Fast pass?

I'm just curious, if you had to pick to go on a day in June, between the 14th, and the end of the month, when do you think the best day to go would be?

At that point in the season, not likely to really matter. Sundays are to me probably the best bet though. Mid June things start to ramp up all the way through mid/late August.

In June the middle of the week has had the lowest crowds overall in my experiences. Basically Tues. Wed. and Thurs. That doesn't mean the park will be empty, just that lines are usually less on these days than they are over the weekend.

There are two things to consider before buying. First being the size of the crowds. There were days where it was faster to the ramp in the general line for TTD compared to the FL. GK was only on the stairs. I laughed and pointed at the ones who spent around $100 for FL+ and ended up saving maybe a minute in line or actually waited longer.
The second thing I would consider is how much your body can actually handle. There have been times, during the week, that I rode everything as much as I could stand and was done by 6. No FL was needed.

Don't go to the front of the park until a little later in the day. You will be fooled into buying Fast Lane because it gives you a false sense of how busy the park is.

We went on Thursday June 16th last year and followed the plan listed above, and all the lines were either just behind or ahead of the Fast Lane merge point (10 min wait was the longest). We heard people complaining about the money they spent with how short the regular lines were. Not saying it will be the same for you, but this early in the season, there is a good chance that it will be.

When you visit CP, visit my Mill, est. 1835

Fast Lane is a joke some days early in the season where crowds are at a minimum if you can't wait 15 min to ride anything the I guess the pass is for you! But like other people said the fast lane merge at millennium with the line puts you 10 min from the station and there is no one there don't buy it!

RollerCoasters and Rock Concerts! Life in the fast Lane!!

Again, it also depends on the rides. If you care for some of the smaller rides to cool down from coasters, you'd be surprised how much time will be saved on rides like Giant wheel, Cadillac Cars, Troika, Tiki Twirl, Eagles, Maxx Air, Power Tower (downward), and so on, even on otherwise "dead" days. Again, it all comes down to the meshing of your personal perception of value, desire and budget. Also, if you're looking to marathon, some FL entrances allow it more than the normal queue, especially on Raptor, Maverick and Mean Streak. Again, those mere minutes really add up.

The only time I regretted buying FL was once at King's Island after a massive all-morning thunderstorm. Obviously the park was completely dead the rest of the day. In that case, I had pre-bought (which was the real mistake) on the web too because there was a special. Of course, every "challenge park"-ish ride was only a measly $5 that day, so that was a bonus :)

CP would be smart if they adjusted the Fast Lane queus to go directly into the station, like they do at Canada's Wonderland. I would still find plenty of value in Fast Lane even on slow days if I could bypass the 15 min wait on MF and other rides that have a merge point outside of the station.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Funnily enough, they did the opposite for you. It used to be MF Fast Lane entered near Panda Express and dumped you into the employee stairs right into the station (not unlike how Gemini currently does). They then changed it to be the guaranteed 15 minute line you mention.

Yup, and they are leaving money on the table by doing that. Bypassing 15 min lines on slow days is worth $100 for me.

I agree with that. At Kings Island I cannot recall any ride that has Fast Lane not taking you directly to the load area. If CP were set up the same way, I would be much more likely to buy a Fast Lane. I am sure other people would feel the same way.

Fast lane at cedar point doesn't take you directly to the loading station? Please explain? It's a hell of a lot of money, I figured they take you directly to the loading station

We just did?

the fast lane line just merges with the regular lines a little further up the path? Sorry for the stupid questions, but I have never been to the park so I am just trying to understand the process

For most of the rides, it takes you directly to the loading station. For rides such as Millennium Force or Magnum, it takes you close to the front of the line, but not THE front of the line.

I despise Fast Lane, but I don't want to sidetrack the conversation. :) Its been had ad-nauseum. It's here and it's staying (kinda like Obamacare). Time to move on.

The advice here is very good. I would never buy the Fast Pass online in advance. Especially not on a weekday. I spent a lot of time in the park last summer. Most days Fast Pass would have been a waste.

Granted I rarely went on weekends. I think if I showed up on a Saturday in August my feelings would be different.

Regardless, I'd save the coin and see how the lines are first. The money you save could go towards drinks, t-shirts, photos, or the awesome stuff they have in the gift shops.

CP does will in that regard. I love going through the shops :) I actually played Plinko a few times just for the 20% off coupons!

Thank you all for the tips and advice.

In our group at the Winter Chill Out, they mentioned that they were investigating a perk for Platinum Passholders that would provide FastLane Plus for the cost of the standard FastLane. Has anyone heard more of that?

I didn't hear anything about that. But, since I visit the park many times a year, I don't see the need for FL, but if I were to visit another park that I don't go to as much, I might consider depending on the crowds.

I just saw the discount for Platinum pass holders on the website- its when you click to buy and enter how many Fast Lane passes you want and select the date. The option came up to buy Fast Lane, and under that on the left was Fast Lane Plus Season Pass - it says upgrade for free. Valid for one upgrade on date selected. Limited time offer.
