Fast Pass today?

My brother went to CP today and just got back. And he said that there were no ticket to ride or anything. And said he only had to wait 30 minutes, for both rides.

Oh, someone please tell me this is true! :) I'm going two weeks from tomorrow and I can't wait, but this TTR thing has me all in a tizzy! :) I'm going with a group of about 8 people and I don't want to have to plan out the day around MF rides with them - especially if some of them are going to be chickening out anyway! :)

What could be better than Y2K @ Cedar Point - America's Rockin' Roller Coast?
WHAT?? please elaborate...could it be really dead and gone already? don't toy with us....

ride early, ride often!!!
Consider... A good reason for not closing the queue until 11:00am would be because by that time it is possible to have a fairly good idea how many people are in the park. It was reported above that the wait was 30 minutes today. That hardly justifies any kind of queueing system other than an aluminum maze. I would not be surprised if the general idea is to use the system only on days when the park attendance exceeds some arbitrary figure. Don't count the system out just yet...remember, today was Tuesday. If the crowd was really that small, then using TTR would just be silly. --Dave Althoff, Jr.
See, that is perfect. Just use it on Weekends and peak days. No one has a problem with that (I would think...) I really hope that this is true...
but wouldn't quieter days be better "testing" days?? less people, less confusion?? and how do you explin the absence of any comments about TTR on the official site???

They took them off. They stayed the first day or two, but after someone saw the bad rep. it would give the park, they were removed.
servo: I think they probably got the ttr system all work out. But I do agree with you that the should have started the system on a quiet day instead of a busy Friday.
I am just praying that they got rid of the stupid system for good.

Don't beleive everything that gets posted. I was at the park after work and "Ticket To Ride" was being used, and they had signs at the main gate advertising that fact. My experience with it was good, I'll post my views in a different thread.
Happy as pig in !

I sure thought Cedar Point was dead as we knew it.

However, I have a suggestion for better thoroughput. Why not have a 4th train on standby incase one of them goes down? Another switch could be built to alternate the two.

Just an idea. This way 3 trains would be the norm.
That is an awesome idea Nut, a fourth white train would look cool. It probably won't happen however, due to cost. That would be a great thing to see.

:D

What could another train possibly cost?

I'm sure I can't afford it however they can and it should be the norm in future projects.

I was there the 27th, and they did have it, however it did not go into effect until around 1 because the Millennium Force was down for quite some time. You can read a quick review of my TTR experience in the My Evening "Ticket to Ride" Experience.

I just spoke to my brother, and said he rode once at 11:00 and once at 12:30 or something. Sorry, i guess that explains it. I apologize for this.

Just use it on the weekends! I hope your wait times increase because of that comment! And that you are forced to go only on the weekends!

Nut & CABEWNCP -
See if you agree with me on this:
A fourth train would most likely not work. In order to get it on the track wouldn't they have to take one off to make room? As far as I could see the transfer track only goes towards the train station, leaving no place to put the disabled train while the extra one is being put on the track. Am I wrong in assuming they can't put four trains on the track due to a lack of blocks?
To do a fourth train would require a redesign of the switch and an additional storage track parallel to the loading station. And the procedure for exchanging trains would be rather cumbersome as there is no way to make those cars do that tight of a U-turn. They can barely make it through the switch as it is!

By the way: If you look closely at Gemini, it has enough storage space to store five trains, even though they should never need to store more than four. A closer look reveals that on the right-hand side, the footers and supports suggest that there is space for a sixth storage track. There is a theory which states that the ride was originally built to have eight trains...six operational and two spares. The theory is consistent with the related theory that Gemini was designed for the Michigan park that never got built.

--Dave Althoff, Jr.
Hmmm,

Woodstock's Express is the same way. The ride had extra track when it was built that is now in a small storage shed in the boneyard. There are three blocks on the ride (the station, the lift, and the brake run) which is the minimum for two train operation.
