FP in Toledo Blade

The Toledo Blah (blade) has an article about the fast pass system in the second news senction, titled "System tested to reduce Millennium Force wait". The article is a major crock of BS. It said that the FP system was working, it also says that people said they liked the ticket to ride program rather than waiting in line. Obviously, acording to this site and all off the CP fans we have here, who would die for the park... are not impressed with the system and want it gone. The article totaly says that the system is good and that people like the FP system. This is not true, The Blah trys to be unbias when it writes its articles, but it is one of the most biased papers in the country. I would'nt say this is an acurate article.

You have to remember the newspaper's source. You don't think they have their reporters visiting the park on Saturday to see how the system works, do you? Of course not.

The Park People I talked to on Saturday indicated that they had gotten many compliments on the system on Friday. Perhaps they did. Perhaps the system worked great on Friday. All I know is that on Saturday it was more of a fiasco. The park, of course, is going to blame the fiasco on the crowd, on the weather, and on mechanical trouble with the ride...not on the fact that it is simply too cumbersome and ignores most people's preferences for handling a day in the park. Particularly since it apparently worked for them on Sunday. The real key is how it works...or doesn't...on the four-day holiday weekend. If it crashes under those crowds, and the weather and the ride do not give them any excuses to work with, perhaps they will understand what some of us have been saying all along...

Do you really think that they would write something negitive about the system and ruin their relationship with the park?

Against Ticket To Ride since day one!
do you really think that we here would write something negative on the syatem and ruin OUR LEADER'S relationship with the park?? Jeff has many perks(MF winter pictures) and a relationship with the park on the line here, yet he is railing as hard as we are!! i just think that before you write something like that, do all your research and talk to many sources, like we do here. i am a source. Jeff is a source, Dan is a source, etc...so what i am saying is coming from MANY sources on all sides. a newspaper should know better than that.

I don't think the positive piece has anything to do with keeping on CP's good side. There have been plenty of negative articles in the past.

Go back to where Dave said, "You don't think they have their reporters visiting the park on Saturday to see how the system works, do you?"

The Toledo Blade does not maintain a staff of coaster enthusiasts for their amusement park articles. They had one source for their article: Cedar Point Public Relations. And I'm sure that's good enough for them. Frankly, I doubt the Toledo Blade is going to hire Carl Monday* to go to work. Outside the amusement park world, it simply isn't that big of a deal.

* For those outside of Cleveland, Carl Monday is an investigative reporter for WJW Fox-8.

I wrote the Blade too. I noticed the same "biased" writing. :-)

It wasn't biased at all, it was just poor reporting. First thing they teach you in journalism 101: don't reprint press releases (or the phone equivalent).

No, not biased. I was just quoting what somewhatchewy wrote so people knew what I was saying. Biased is the wrong word to use. Poor journalism is a better term, Jeff.
