Freeway ever coming back?

Does anybody know if freeway is coming back for the 2007 season? With the new coaster going in I think they should. Or is freeway gone forever? Can somebody please help me out? Thank You!! ;] *** Edited 6/19/2006 3:29:45 PM UTC by Jerreus***

Perhaps you could ask Tony and Tyler. Since it is gone now, I highly doubt that it will ever return in its former state, even though I personally wish it would.

T&T were asked about this season, and they said there were no plans to have Freeway return this season. You'd quite likely get the exact response regarding 2007.

Why start a new thread we have a old one just for this !!

http://pointbuzz.com/cpplace.aspx?mode=thread&TopicID=18072

Just look a little bit first found this one in five minutes....

I get frustrated with these new posters.......

The last post in that thread was 4/7/06. That was almost two months ago. Also this is talking about freeway coming back for the new ride in '07, not '06.

According to the park, it was removed because it wasn't "fair" for guests and due to numerous complaints about the system. It won't be returning.

That really sucks. It was a great way to get on the bigger roller coasters. (without having to wait for hours in line)

Well that's a big pile of bull if I ever heard any. Freeway was loved by those who understood it and used it right. But I think the real issue is lack of staff. It's not a payroll issue (CP can afford it), it's the point of having proper staffing for everything in the park. Which has been a problem for a couple years now. Plus over half the days it was a waste of labor on Raptor, Magnum, WT since they would be 15 minutes or less anyways.

I'm just saying what I've been told several times by higher-ups in Park Operations. I don't know if I agree that staffing was an issue. The entire rest of the year they still had employees at the merge points, and the person who distributed the stamps was just someone from admissions. But, I can easily understand the complaints part... I heard a very good number of complaints about the system over the years.

^ Thats because those people who complained didnt know what it was, but when they tried it they didnt complain.

From people who used the system too. They'd complain because their pass wasn't honored when the ride was down due to weather or maintenance or washed off at Soak City. A good number of people also abused the system; and no one can deny that.

I have to ask, how do you abuse the system? The one part I didn't like was that black ink. But even if you wash it off, chances are they already gave out all the stamps already. I just think people didnt like when the top of the hour came and 50 people showed up and moved right in front of them.

My complaint is why the handicaped don't have to follow the parent swap rules. I agree with not waiting with everyone else, but express to the front of the line on everything is a bit much (and now costs $ thousands for anyone else). I've never seen anyone not a part of a group, why can't they (someone other than the hncp person) wait in line for the group? Just a thought.

And during my visits this year, the merge is not covered. Plus load platforms were not monitored except for MF. Which I think is a bad idea on TTD since the front row line normally always gets in the way.

Aw, you worked at the park last year. Did you not make any friends on rides?

2007 - Top Thrill Dragster
2005 - Magnum XL-200/Camp Snoopy/Monster/Witches Wheel

Disabled people wait in line just like everyone else on major rides. They just don't do it in the queues. They pick up a "special access" pass from park op, then go to the entrance person at the ride who estimates the length of the line, and gives them a boarding time. At that time, the group either goes up the exit or up the freeway ramp, depending on the ride. I always thought the system was as fair as it could be for all involved.

I do agree with you that it's disappointing to see the lack of entrance and crowd control people this year. None of the days I've been there have been overly busy, so I'm hoping they have the "proper" staffing when it is busy. In past years, we were NEVER allowed to not have an entrance person. Something must've changed with that policy because I've seen major rides (Magnum, Mantis, etc) without an entrance person several times this year.

You obviously didn't use the system very often if you didn't see atleast one person wipe it off on the hand rail, wash it off, or use "wetnaps" to take off the black stamp so that they could use it again. Or when people would get two stamps for Millennium or TTD when they were only allowed one. Or, when you're limited to two stamps a day, getting early stamps (11 am) for the one or two o'clock hour so that you could use them, and wash them off and get new stamps for the coasters that began offering them at 2:00. Abuse of the system was huge, and I don't know how a regular could have missed that it was. It was a good idea, but poorly implemented.

...And yes, the merge points aren't being monitored anymore, as much as I wish they would be. But they were indeed monitored through the end of last season, even after the program had been removed.

^ Wow I never knew that. That is abusing the system, and now I can see why CedarPoint removed the Freeway system. But I am certantly dissapointed that they did remove it though. =[
