Friday's at Breakers

I never had a problem with the food on Cleveland road...

Terrible service and a long wait for overpriced nuked food was a problem during my visit.

We ate at Quaker Steak & Lube at Castaway Bay for the firs time last week and had no issues. Service was solid, food was good and had a great view of the bay sitting out on the covered deck, even in a passing rain shower. The Platinum Pass discount was great...took $5 off the bill. Nice added benefit.

I was in Friday's last month. I got a beer a soft drink and an appetizer and it was $30. Never again will I go in there. The food is nowhere near worth the price.

So ate there on Saturday and wasn't very impressed. Sat on the patio which was nice, but the wings I got were not even hot and pretty luke warm. Maybe you guys have freaked me out about the microwave jokes? If they are true or not? lol.

Anyways though, the hotel looked great. I feel like they need a decent restaurant in there though. Friday's is so bland, as well as Perkins. Why not have a restaurant that is not a chain?

IMO, chains never deliver the best quality.

I'm old enough to remember when Hotel Breakers had the Coffee Shop and the Anchor Room. Maybe, once the contracts end with Perkins, Fridays, etc, Cedar Fair will rethink the restaurants the hotel has?

Management put a huge focus on Breakers and the beach, so it's highly possible the restaurants are under review, probably just need to wait until the contract is up. I think making every aspect of the resort, including the food options should be top priority. Friday's and Perkin's don't seem to be of the best quality. I think they should put in some truly unique restaurants that can't be had anywhere else.

What does everyone think of Tomo? Yes, another chain, but is it decent?

Yes, Tomo is very good, always was pleased with the food at either Breakers or the downtown Cleveland location.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I've never been to the TGI Fridays at the Breakers... so I have a couple questions. Can you eat there even if you are not a guest at the hotel? Also, are the prices through the roof like the rest of the food places around the park, or are they consistent with the other restaurant around the US? Lastly, is the food quality the same as you would find at another TGI Fridays? Thanks! :)

You can still eat there if you are not a guest at Breakers. As far as prices, they are pretty standard to any other Friday's. Maybe a tiny bit pricier. As far as food quality, yes the same.

Ate there on our trip a couple years ago. We had a bad experience. We were there opening week so nothing else was open. Since we were staying at Breakers we really didn't have any other options. I filled out the survey with appropriate reviews of the park which we loved, but gave low marks for food. The manager of Friday's actually called me! Through our conversation I learned that Friday's at Breakers is actually owned by cedar point. They have a franchise, but they set their own prices. Which explains why its more expensive than other Friday's. Also why they don't run any promotions. Not my favorite place at the park, in the future, we will bring our own food, and go to Friday's for drinks. They do that pretty well.

I feel so sorry for you, being held hostage at Breakers. :(

Do the people that complain about the food ever respond to the wait staff when they come and ask how everything is? Or do you just sit there and eat cold/lousy/wrongly prepared items?

Obviously, you want to relay your dissatisfaction with tact and politeness...

The wait staff wants you to be happy with your food quality so you respond with better a tip. They are not touching/sampling your food for temperature or taste. Unless it is visually wrong, the waitstaff wouldn't know it is wrong.

I also sincerely hope you relay your experiences bad & GOOD to management as they have been very responsive especially the last few years.

Yes, I had at length discussions about food with management at Friday's. We were offered 2 free appetizer coupons to come back. That was not what we wanted, We just wanted our food right. FYI I am a 15 year Veteran in the food industry currently. I am the easiest to please, I promise. I have only had experiences like this once or twice

So management did not have your correctly prepared food brought out to you after you talked to them?

I hope the restaurant stays. There is always a speculation topic about something at the park that is leaving. I love their jack daniels burgers and chicken sandwich :) We always go to Fridays b/c it's right on the beach and we walk out on it later. It's pretty much dead at noon, but once dinner rolls in, the wait is like an hour or more.

I have to agree with the low-quality commentary. I've been at that Friday's countless times each year since it opened 16 years ago due to location.

It has almost always had infuriatingly slow and aloof service, poor drinks (flat, warm sodas, watery margaritas) and food quality that regularly fails to reach the arguably meager bar set by the median culinary experience across the Friday's chain.

On another note, while I love many chain restaurants and visit them worldwide for many of the reasons that places such as CP install them... at a park like CP I'd much rather have the likes of The Boathouse, Breakers Coffee Shop (especially when it still had the tin ceilings), and the Silver Dollar Café. I used to regularly dine at all three, and I don't think I've been to any of them a single time since they changed over other than to stick my head in and peek around out of morbid curiosity.
