GateKeeper Media Day

The form is now working again. Once you submit, the form will "go away" and you'll see a small thank you message below all the text.

One thing to keep in mind about a media preview - and I'll keep it real here for you - these events are put on so that the media can report on our new stuff. In this case, it's GateKeeper.

I think it's been discussed before, but this is not "ERT" as we all know it. There will be stopping and starting. You will likely wait in line for a little bit. The operating schedule is going to be flexible and not set in stone. But we have a solid plan in place that will allow you to ride as much as humanly possible. :)

As long as the ride is running, you are welcome to ride and fill every seat. We begin when the first media crew needs to be on the air, which is around 4 a.m. It may not be till 4:30. We're still scheduling them right now.

I guarantee you will still have a good time and I hope that helps so you know the "business" end of what we're doing that day.

And DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR CLUB CARD!!

Another thing I don't think has been mentioned yet, since this is a media day to promote GateKeeper, it would be a bad idea to wear shirts from other parks.

I would also like to add please be on your best behavior as you will be representing the community.

Please have patience with the media. Remember, you might be there to have fun, but they are there to work. While I'm sure some of them will love the park and been to Cedar Point and be knowledgeable, others may never have been to an amusement park or on a coaster. What may seem like common knowledge here may be way over the heads of those covering the ride and the park on media day.

When you arrive, Dvo, we'll have a special seat for you. In Frontiertown. Away from the action. ;)

Its where he belongs anyway. :-)

I have to say that this is a wonderfully generous thing that CP is doing for the coaster enthusiast community. Plus, its also great advertising, when everyone goes back home and tells their family, friends and coworkers how great Gatekeeper is!

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Can i Ride with tony. Will the news crews maybe ask you for an interview?

I wish I could go! My August trip to The Point is so far away... ughhh!

I am in. I signed up last Thursday. We will have some goodtimes. I am giong to be there at 4 am to be ready for those medias.

I've never been to a media day that has been virtually open to the public. A social media day if you will... It sounds like there are going to be a lot of people going to this thing with one purpose, to get multiple rerides. Are there any limits to the amount of people that will be allowed in to the event? Any estimate to how long the lines are going to be based on the number of RSVP's so far?

Having it on a Thursday should keep the crowds low. The event also ends before everyone gets off of work, so people would have to skip all of work in order to attend.

I say it may get a bit long towards the 8-10am mark, but people can be occupied if they get reviewed on the ride for a TV outlet or the park.

Is there a cut-off date when RSVPs are no longer accepted?

Are they sending out a confirmation email? I signed up, but I wanted to make sure I don't make the drive to find out that there was an error in communication :)

Is there any word on the total number of people who have signed up?

I didn't receive an email either. The page DID come back and say my info was submitted successfully.

Also, not sure where the May 1st date came from. I do understand they need to know how many people are coming for food prep, maybe staffing, etc, but they should take the page down if they want registrations to stop. I signed up after May 1. Hadn't really planned on going until I put in some extra time at work last week and they owe me some time off. :)

Around 1,100 signed up. They will be spread through out the day however. even so, if they have 3 train operation, they will be able to spit out fast enough that 1 hour wait could be the max for the day.

Even enthusiasts will peter out after a couple hours and some will arrive late, etc. If 1100 is the number, it will be a good time I think.

It's not a ride you can marathon, even if the seats were available.
