Gatekeeper Testing.

So... looks like it's raining at CP today. ;)

Thrills Around the Corner!

Are you serious? If the park is ok with outsiders sharing information about the construction then Jeff and Walt wouldn't care if he posted construction updates and schedules, because that would increase traffic to this site. So obviously the park isn't ok with it.

Remember, the admin deliberately and admittedly sent fake rumors to other sites to claim his site is more credible. I'm not buying that excuse. Once you've been lied to, you kind of have to see proof regarding anything they've said to believe the liar.

I don't follow. Do you have any proof? there have been multiple times members would come on here to start fake rumors or spread false info, and they get banned to keep the site credible. This site also respects the rules of the park and doesn't allow posting of illegal video and photos. The way the park operates or any park for that matter do you really think they are ok with an outsider posting construction updates and details of the ride. That can potentially cause problems for the park if news outlets and social media see that info, especially if its inaccurate.\

I guess there's the proof everyone needed!

Im glad the site raised 7k for the foundation. But the administrators have to stop lashing out at every comment that is posted. Im not threatening you, the park, or my friend. I check every time before I post something make sure that its appropriate to share.

I'll step in. The information you are sharing is not meant for public consumption.

If you'd like to email me to discuss this further, or tell me more about your friend so we can put the situation to rest, I'd be happy to talk to you.

Thanks, Tony.

For the record, I personally could not care less. I don't care when a wire is scheduled to be attached to something. I don't care when the siding for a building is going to delivered. That level of construction watching does not interest me in the least. Your posts only stood out to me because they were brought to my attention. If not for that, those posts would have been lost in a sea of discussion.

Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled to provide an outlet where people can discuss this stuff in as much detail as they want. It just doesn't interest me personally.

It bothers me because it bothers them. Don't imagine it was anything other than that.

Pointbuzz has been behind on posting Gatekeeper information vs. The rest of the internet, Facebook pages, other sites and even subreddits. I think they're just bummed they're not relevant anymore.

I'm bummed that you're so bored, you had to create a second account to troll.

I'd be surprised if there was another website that covered Cedar Point like we do, but it's possible. There could be another community somewhere that has as many passionate fans as we do. If there is, I'm sure they have the same troll problem we have.

I know GOCC and CP Rundown have posted many great updates on Facebook. Other than that, I honestly have no idea. I don't spend time visiting other amusement park websites. I barely visit CoasterBuzz.

Everyone here knows the admins have intentionally sent bogus rumors to other sites so they could get the upper hand and seem more legit than other sites, right?

I'd love to hear the specifics on that one. Is it anything like people who make up things about PointBuzz and post them online?

Please refresh my memory, because I've completely forgotten about this one.

mostimportant said:Nothing on the front page about Media Day being open to ANYONE who is a card carrying member of a coaster club.

The news that broke at our event? You can cherry-pick just about anything as "proof" of something. It's convenient to ignore everything else.

I'm sorry we're not meeting your needs. Please feel free to share the place that is meeting your Cedar Point needs with the group, so they can finally hear about Cedar Point news.

mostimportant said:Look at any question asked by someone who recently signed up here to ask it.

Maybe I'm on a different website, but I see lots of threads with questions and helpful advice.

Seriously, such a terrible website and a toxic community, yet you can't pull yourself away? Why am I that important to you? We're no longer relevant, no longer legit, yet your actions say otherwise. Stop reading and visiting and let the PointBuzz die off.

I hate to call you out, but I'm going to have to insist you show me where I've ever belittled someone for having a different opinion than me.

I'm so tired of this junior high drama. It's been a long day and I'm still at the office. Days like this, where the 0.0001% troll population comes out front and center, makes me question my sanity in continuing this labor of love.

I'm going home to see my family.

Don't despair Walt. There's plenty of mature reasonable people still here. Thanks Tony, for offering to help.

What's wrong with this?

The park will most likely release videos (on/off ride)

Are we not to know you have a youtube channel with POV's of other rides? Because that pretty much negates the whole internet and thank you for reaching out to the users. You should do that faster in the future so as to not let a site admin, who isn't able to eloquently explain things, speak for you. it gives the park you work for a bad name. See other sites for examples of this. Having a relationship with someone like this, however neutral you remain, can't be good for PR. Especially when they call fans of the establishment you work for "13 year olds"

I'd be happy to email if you'd like. What do you say?

I don't follow. Do you have any proof?

You can go through Jeff's posts and find it. Click his name, then click the posts. Because the post history is poorly set up, you'll have to search each thread. It's there. Trust me. He has admitted to sending rumors to screamscape.

Lets all stop the fighting, its just immature. Especially you Walt. Can we just get back on topic? I have agreed to stop releasing info. Sorry that all of you take this too personally. Whose excited for testing?

I can think of several. CPfansite, Subreddits, Gatekeeper fan page, TPR, ACE news letters etc.. You said so yourself when you named two (2) more. Does it hurt patting yourself on the back that much? This is the internet. You really don't think you're the only one that covers the park do you?

For the record, I created another account and "made" a new IP because last time I called this site out on spreading false rumors, my account was deleted as was the post where it was done. You did it with a swiftness. Nothing says "cover up" better.

I'd love to hear the specifics on that one. Is it anything like people who make up things about PointBuzz and post them online?

Screamscape. Done. Memory refreshed yet?

The news that broke at our event?

Even more reason to post in on the front page. Again, i got it faster at another site. With the amount of crap ads on this site, you'd think you'd have the money to keep up on that. I've punched Osama in the face 3 times and all I got was having to point my browser to another URL to get the info I needed.

I'm sorry we're not meeting your needs. Please feel free to share the place that is meeting your Cedar Point needs with the group, so they can finally hear about Cedar Point news.

Pick any CP, roller coaster site, or just Google it. Pretty easy.

3rd and final post. These are your users.
http://pointbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/28582.aspx

There are many more that have much more vitriol to them, but that was an easy example to find. Also, I noticed you asked where to find posts where you have done this. Actually, you've been alright, sort of. You're more or less guilty by being associated with Jeff.

But I guess if you feel guilty and have to ask to proof, that's your thing.

Honestly if you have so many problems with this website, then just leave. It's that simple. I along with many other members would love to get back to talking about Gatekeeper instead of seeing your outburst all over this forum.

DUDE STOP. GTFO That is the Digital Communications Manager at Cedar Point that you are now being a dick to Kiefz. Just shut up and leave.

And I see nothing wrong with the thread you linked, the first reply was to direct the OP to the thread that contained the pertinent information.

Tony, thank you for being classy and concise and trying to end this. Please don't let this one bad apple spoil the opinion the park has of this community that we have spent so long building.

Well I didn't know this before but I am happy to see people from CP that work there actually take time and read these forums, pretty cool.

/Waves hand, Hi Tony. Great job on the blog so far! Keep the updates coming.

Is Kiefz and mostimportant the same person or am I lost somewhere? There is no need to troll this site. This is by far the best Cedar Point fansite I have been on and if you don't agree you don't have to post here. I'd rather wait to find things out from the park itself than to be told things by someone who has "inside information."

Nothing on the front page about Media Day being open to ANYONE who is a card carrying member of a coaster club. I found that out on a Facebook page as it happened, not days later buried in a thread.

Had you been there, you would know that they asked us not to publicize it until they had more details to share. Thanks for playing.

I suppose we haven't had a troll like this in awhile, so it was time. It's predictable: We're douches who worry about competition, the site is going to be irrelevant, etc. In 15 years, you can imagine how many times that's happened. And yet... we're all still here. To echo Walt's comments, I wish I had time to worry about other sites, when we haven't even rebuilt this site since, actually I don't know what the last time was. Hopefully this is the year!

So let me paint the issue in a different way. When Walt and I are standing there with Tony, and another person from Cedar Fair with a fancy title is asking about the person who keeps posting information they don't want to be public, that puts us in a really awkward position. It's made even more awkward by the fact that these are people who on occasion trust us with things that shouldn't be posted, so it doesn't look great when some of those things end up in the forum, owned by people who were given trusted information. Is that really that hard to follow? I knew about GateKeeper before it even had a name. Do you think we would have been invited to bring in 200 people even for fundraising if I shared that?

That's why we've been around for 15 years, why we get access, and why we have events. We have an understanding about what our relationship is and how to maintain it. If this is something you don't understand or care about, I really, really don't care. In this case, it was all fun and games until someone from the park asked what was going on, and then it wasn't cool anymore. We said it wasn't cool, and since we pay the bills, that's our call to make. If that's not good enough, you're welcome to go where ever else you want. We won't lose any sleep over it.
