Golf Cart Rentals

Loopy's avatar

I was thinking the other day....hmmm...

GL has put in golf carts to take you from the waterpark over to the ride side so why not take that idea and incorporate it into CP. The middle of the midways would be the driving area and the outsides would be for walking. I know alot of you will flame me for this but if they actually put this idea in, there would be a hell of alot of people using them.

You can put little parking areas near all the rides and such.

I think this would be a great money making idea for the park.

I am a little Loopy though you know.

Feel free to expand on the idea. :)

Theoretically a good idea, but in practice it wouldn't work.

Just think about when you see the Ambulance cart driving down the midways and how many people still don't get out of the way (even on a May weekday). Then put someone not employed by the park behind the wheel who also happens to be impatient. Next, think of a fourth of July midway.

I think what they could use is a parking lot shuttle similar to those in use at the Disney parks. But golf cart rentals inside the park? I can already see that being abused like an altar boy.

Yes, bring back the parking lot tram.

Just get to the park early and park in the front row, like me. ;) Or, of course there is the Soak City lot, right Mr. Scott?

Golf carts in the park? Have you ever been to Stroller Kingdom? I mean... Magic Kingdom?

80 billion strollers in one place is bad enough. I can't imagine how horrid 80 billion golf carts would be. Second worst idea ever.

Yes, Grady. Especially when staying at Lighthouse Point. Wanna be on MF first? Take the shuttle (if you are a resort guest) to the Marina entrance. Wanna do Magnum first? Just walk through the SC entrance. Or how about WT? Take the shuttle to the main gate. The shuttles begin running at 7am, so you should be on the first train out, regardless of what train that is.

Works for me in May and September. I don't visit during the summer months anymore, just too crowded.

I do miss Bubbles, though.

If Geauga Lake had been using them anywhere else other than that little path at the extreme side of the park, which is probably not very busy, (haven't been there yet this year) I would have thought it was a bad idea. The midways at CP are just big enough to handle the crowd that there is now; golf carts wouldn't help. Bringing back the parking lot trams though, I agree 100% if they make it look the way they use to, with the little tram boulevard with the trees. From the pictures I've seen, it made for a much nicer parking lot.

I knew it was a crazy idea.

If there was room to expand the midways and make the centers like pseudo streets, it would work.

All the CPPD could have patrol carts with lights and sirens. I still think it's a great idea for a park that has the room to do it.

America already has a big weight problem. People can use exercise. :)

I don't really see a need for them anyways. I mean, if you want to get to the front of the park to the very back. Simple: Sky ride to mid-point. Train to back. And in practice, it can be done to get you pretty close to anywhere in the park.

Geauga Lake has the carts because the pathway is a long dead zone connecting two sides of the park. Unless you want to go for a nature walk, there's nothing on that path. Cedar Point doesn't have any such areas, nor need for golf carts.

To say it would be a money making idea would imply charging for the service, which I can't imagine happening, either. It's free at Geauga Lake.

You can't imagine Cedar Point charging for golf cart rental? What planet are you from, Darth?

Yeah as opposed to just getting the exercise of walking around the park....

Ultimately if they did that we would have even more "guests of exceptional size "

And then more people on a "quest to ride."

LOL. That's funny. Kinda Rude.

I just think the motorized wheelchair type things are enough.

I was just thinking in terms of the shuttle type service offered at Geauga Lake. I don't know if it's really a golf cart, but a transport that can hold like 10 people. I don't think this service would be charged for.

As for actually letting customers cruise around the park on golf carts... That would obviously be very dangerous. ;)

Been there. Our honeymoon was Disney World last fall. And that was the "off-season".
