Halloweekends 2013

I remember the 2nd to last Sunday 2012 of the operating season. It was insanely crowded. Nice weather + Halloweekends = crowds. The week after (the last Sunday of the operating year) had those massive winds which stopped Iron Dragon, etc. so I guess I'm glad I went the week before.

I also noticed the lighter colors on the Eternity Infirmary building on the 4th.

BTW, speaking of Halloweekends, after riding Mean Streak on July 4th, I noticed another long rectangular building (in Mean Streak's infield) to the immediate left of 2012's Eden Musee that I don't remember seeing last year, anyone know what that buildings for?

I know comparing different parks to each other is like comparing apples to oranges, but with Knotts "Scary" Farm has just announcing a total of FIVE new/upgraded haunts to their 2013 season, I begin to wonder if Halloweekends will ever get to that level. I remember the year Cedar Point added two Haunted Attractions the same season and thought that was the best.
I just hope to see something completely new and going beyond the "one per year" bit they have been doing these past couple of years.

And all we got at Cedar Point this year was a 30 million dollar coaster.

^Yes hahaha

Knott's is open 7 days a week, even in Sep & Oct. That means bigger crowds and more $$$ than CP can generate with weekend only hours.

This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!

On the other hand, it's not like a new haunt requires all that significant of an investment. While there is certainly some expense (new props, costuming, marketing) it's nothing like a new ride entails. I agree with Mr. Woodstock - I'd like to see them up the ante a little bit in regard to new Halloweekends attractions each year. It's not like they aren't making loads of money off Halloweekends (look at the parking lot on a Saturday in October), even with weekend only hours.

Unlike the building of new rides/coasters, the park is actually running out of room for large square buildings. Each haunted house needs a decent size building for it to occupy and there isn't much space on the point that would be worth the investment of a building that is used about 36 days out of the operating season. Unlike coasters that can be built over existing buildings, rides, midways, you can't do that with a haunted house. It just isn't cost effective to do so. You may see more scare zones built though since they take a lot less resources to get up and running.

Well if they built a dark ride they could dedicate a section of the building to a haunt.

Or just retheme it for halloweekends.

Same difference. But that could be a little expensive.

With the money they pull in during HW, it could be justified. Besides, with some of the newer Dark rides, like Toy Story, retheming wouldn't be too difficult.

On Cedar Point's Official Twitter Account, they just tweeted:

"There is a new Haunt - But you'll have to wait for the details!" #Halloweekends

This really doesn't mean anything, because we all assumed that there would be at least one new haunt, but it does show that Cedar Point is starting to make public "Halloweekends" even if it has a month until it opens.
My guess, with no construction at this time, that it will either be in Club Blood's old building or a new walk through.

Or they are redoing the hospital themed haunts exterior.

Also worth noting, the park is currently taking Screamster applications for this season. Anyone who wants to get paid to scare the daylights out of people, head over to CP's website, click on jobs, and apply for job code 613.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

Me too !

Speaking of Halloweekend Sunday's .... Can anyone confirm whether or not the outdoor haunts will be open ?? If I'm looking at the schedule correctly, it looks as though CP is back to closing at 8 pm every Sunday, with the exception of Columbus weekend.

I was super before Super Stew was cool !

I agree with everyone, Club Blood really does need a makeover. The concept is cool, but the haunt just wasn't up to par last year.

I really hope they still have Eden Musee this year. That and Blood on the Bayou were my favorite last year. I went on a Saturday near the middle of October and the weather was terrible, but it was still so crowded, I couldn't move. The lines were ridiculous for the rides, so, we just stuck to the haunted houses.

Are FastLane passes still offered during Halloweekends?

Club Blood can be amazing... Cedar Point's needs a big update to be so, though.

CW's version is incredible. I keep hoping CP's would be updated to be anything like it.

Yes they are, as well as another pass type of 'Ticket Upgrades' called "Fright Lane Pass." It allows you front of the line access to all haunted houses and some haunted walk throughs that sometime form lines outside. But with anything at Cedar Point during Halloweekends, including parking, I do believe that prices are increased a bit.

Is it like them to change the schedule mid-season like this? It was listed as 12-9 ALL Sundays (incl. Columbus Day Sunday) I believe so this change must have happened recently. 8 on Sundays makes me think they won't be doing the outdoor haunts. Hopefully it's a mistake, I like the 9pm closing!
