HalloWeekends Preview Night - September 12

If it were a couple hours before I'd agree, but three days out? It's far from impossible.

You're right, I'm sure the hiring (including background checks and drug screens) and training processes can be completed in a matter of three days... ;)

The sense of entitlement from enthusiasts never ceases to amaze me.

We are LUCKY that CP does this stuff for enthusiasts. Why can't people understand that?

Hmm, you seem to be under the impression that there's nobody in the park that could do this job on a different night for a special reason, and they would have to hire all new people. Why is this?

You seem to be under the impression that people aren't happy about this and other things, and that they are whining like entitled babies about something. You even used CAPS to make a very VEHEMENT point about it. Why is this. I'm really trying to understand the mentality here.

Don't mind the fact that limited hours and ride availability on Fridays during HalloWeekends is said to be in part due to staffing issues... You see, I'm pulling this in out of nowhere.

I get that, everyone gets that. But it's also Mantis' last stand, so it's not like there isn't a special reason to do it.

It's quite simple, they will either do it or they won't. If they don't, it will be because they don't think it's worth asking the Saturday/Sunday guys to come in on a Friday night, or some other reason, and life will go on.

I think Mean Streak should be closed on Friday night. It's dumb to have people walk the whole ride, just for it to be open for 6 hours.

I'm not sure the words "Mantis" and "ERT" have been used together for over a decade.

That's probably because the ERT becomes EMT after enough rides. ;)

It has been years since I last rode Mantis. I'd like to get at least one last ride if possilbe. I'm not sure if I could "stand" an entire ERT session but I'm "up" for the challenge.

If there's one thing in this world that I can't stand.....it's puns.

That reminds of an old Paddlewheel joke. The captain would say he/she wasn't allowed to ride Mantis, because they don't allow bad stand-ups.

Obviously I'm not referring to all enthusiasts. But I've seen enough bitching and moaning at enthusiast events, based on a sense of entitlement that the park should have done something more or different. It makes me sick. So when I see hints of it I try to point this out, because the last thing any of us wants is this stuff to go away.

It sounds as if your heart is in the right place, but if you're looking for a place where all bitching and moaning is gone, the human race is not the place to find it.

Anyway, officially, it would be nice to see Mantis running this Friday for the kickoff, but it will be a great night with what looks like great weather regardless.

What I noticed and find interesting is that people in the coaster enthusiast clubs seem to have more to complain about and less fun when they visit a park then other people. I've always found that kind of strange as I would think if you like something enough to join a club, doing the activity you like would bring out more joy and less complaints.

Maybe that is just a perception and not really true. I don't know because I'm kind of on the outside of the clubs looking in, I'm a boater and Cedar Point fan, not really a coaster enthusiast though I love coasters.

My experience with clubs is with ski clubs. You can find a lot of things to nit pick about ski resorts if you work at at, just like with amusement parks. But the skiers seem to have a much different attitude where there is not all the complaining and whining, much more fun and camaraderie.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I must say as an amusement park fan in general and club member, I'm astounded with CP's generosity at these events. It's not lost on me.

I'd like to think it is only a small minority that does the complaining, and sometimes that is just misplaced enthusiasm. In this case, I'm sure there are many people who want to grab a last ride on Mantis.

I always try to say thank you to the park and anyone involved with organizing events. I recommend others who enjoy these kind of things do the same.

Completely agreed, Chuck. You know what they say about the vocal minority drowning out the masses. These events are awesome and I'm so thankful for them. I always try to remember to thank the ride ops, Tony and co, etc., especially when they come in early or stay late just for us. So again, thanks to Tony and everyone involved in making these events so much fun!

Yes! Thank you Tony and crew for these events. We truly appreciate all you do. These events are so much fun and we are so thankful for all the hard work and long hours you put into making them so special!
