How big are you? Can you ride?

height; 5'6"

weight; 162'

waist; 41'

hips; 43'

thighs; 24'

I (Misty) am slightly over weight. I had no problem fitting in the seat with the belt at all. I even had about 5 inches to spare. I also had on a fannie pack strapped to my hip and angled to the side that was holding a camera. Guess that didn't make a difference but oh well. I was worried, but had no problems. And everyone does have different body types. I am a bit over weight but I am also tall. It would be different for someone of similarity yet shorter than I. It would also make a difference if your male or female. I am a women with bigger hips then my husband. I have heard of a man being turned away because he had a 38-39' waist. You honestly can not judge by all these measurements as I have tried to do before going in fear of being turned away with humiliation(sp) but you can not say with different formations. but, I hope I can help out the gals with my measurements.

Have fun and CP no matter what.

Male.

6' 2''

255 pounds

42" waist

I was able to ride. I did not have to try hard to get the 1 inch needed. Hope this helps other of similiar size. *** Edited 7/19/2004 2:12:30 PM UTC by Splunge***

My 42" made it in late June, 3 times! I was 245#'s at the time.
I'm 6'4", and about 285lbs. 38" pant size. I made it yesterday after watching several people smaller than me be denied. I almost ripped my right arm out of socket pulling on the belt to get the 1" slack. It really is about how your body is proportioned. My weight is upper body so I fit.
Before you make the trip to CP you might want to try this home test seat that I found on the internet.

A little note about that test....

It would be best to use a soft seated chair, like the computer chair this man used. I think it does a little more to simulate the depth in the seat like the real thing. I did that test on a hardwood seat and the measruement came out to 30 inches, which would mean a no go. I then did it on my computer chair and it was 26", and I fit in the real thing with 3" of slack, just like the guy in that test seat.

Gemini 100- 6/11/01

5'9", 245#, 38" waist, mopstly I carry my weight high, but I have fairly strong legs.

Pulled 3" of slack in the test seat. Got on to ride, and couldn't pull any. Barely got it fastened. Sixth seat back, yellow train, left side. The ride ops didn't seem to notice or care, and I rode (and survived)

But, if you're questionable, avoid that seat. The belt there is definitely shorter than the test seat.

Yes, my friend that I mentioned on the previous page of this thread fit in the test seat too, but couldn't get the belt shut on the ride.

Magnum still rocks.

Height: 6'3" Weight: 215 Waist: 36-38 Able to ride: yes. I have never had any trouble on any ride, until last Sunday the 22nd when I had to pull the 1 inch of black, which I was able to do fairly comfortably. But like Mr. Ninja said, it depends on how you are built.
5'9"

220 pounds

I can fit 36" pants, so I assume I have a 36" waist.

Hopefully I'm able to ride, but there are people bigger than I am so I shouldn't have a problem. I'll find out when I go next year.

I am 5'10"

210 pounds

40 inch waist

I was able to fit with about 3 inches of belt to spare

Okay, I must not understand how this is working. There are some people with 40 inch waists who get in no problem, but there are some with 36 who do have a problem. What's going on? The belts can't be going over people's waists because this wouldn't be happening. It must be the thighs. So if a person has a big gut but small legs (which I've seen before), they can ride. If that's the case, what's the big deal over waist size? Why does Cedar Point say something about hips?

Sorry to bring this up again, but I lost 20 lbs to come to cp this year for coastermania. I got down to 230 lbs. I am 6'2" tall with a 42" waiste and I weigh 230 lbs. I was able to ride MF 3 times, but everyone had to waite for me to pull with all my might to get a 1 inch slack. In the process I have experience alot of shoulder pain and my wrists and hands are in pain. I still feel that it was worth it but I hope cp can come up with something better for next year. I had no problem on TTD as long as you could buckel up you could ride.
Just beware the test seat. It's so way wrong. I lost 5 lbs since I was there in July and the belt was seriously 2" shorter than then! :O

Catherine

Catherine,
I'm like you, I tried the test seat, and when I couldn't get any slack, I moved on. I wasn't about to try at the platform and have people taking bets whether or not I can fit. Normally we go to CP alot but this year I tried the test seat only once and decided to move on. Maybe this weekend I'll try again just to see if there is a difference.
Yeah, if you get there early and there's no real line at MF yet or many in the station, it might be worth the try to just try the actual seat vs. test seat. That's what I'm figuring on for the end of October.

Dimensions for me - just to be a joiner on the thread - are:

Female
Ht: 5'6"
Wt: 237 lbs
Hips: 39"

With our dental floss fake seat belt of 27" yesterday, OldCPer and I figured that I "ought" to be able to fit, approximating it all as best we could. ;-)

I have no idea if I am able to ride. If someone could please contact me through PM to see if I could. I am currently on a diet and have lost 50lbs since January, and will probably lose 30-40lbs more by May. *** Edited 4/22/2005 7:29:51 PM UTC by Benjamin***

Ben,

You'd better lose that additional weight if you want to ride. May be iffy, even then...
