Is Cedar Fair done with intamin?

Intamin*

I don't see Intamin having anything with CF for quite some time. After recent failures, issues, etc. I think they're done with them. Until Intamin can design high reliability, safety, and throughput, I don't see them ever holding ground with B&M. This is especially true now that their portfolio is expanding more and more with each new year.

Cedar Fair does not have to go back to Intinman/ Intimin/Intmain/Intimain. Cedar Fair, which seems to be a well-managed company, will go to whichever manufacturer can best deliver the attraction Cedar Fair wants to add. Maybe that Intamin. Maybe that's B&M. Maybe it's a company that does not yet exist.

they have 3 intimin coasters they have to go back to them at some point and probably will.

*Intamin, and they have 5 Intamin coasters.

STR is not a coaster. So 4.;)

Maverick, Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Wicked Twister, and Wilderness Run (Jr. Gemini). Five total Intamin coasters at the park. Use to be six up until they removed DT.

By the way.. I was just browsing youtube looking at a Mantis pov.. and I came across this amazing rollercoaster

Its incredible.. I want one

Actually, STR is considered a roller coaster for two reasons. One reason being the lift hills are dry and the boats don't hit the water until the peak of the lift hills. (hence the dry wheels) The second reason being any ride that goes over the height of 80 feet IS CONSIDERED A ROLLER COASTER!!!! Three years of CoasterMania experience right there, Y'all! :) #boom #teamintamin

So you're saying SkyRide, Power Tower, and Snake River Falls are coasters but Woodstalk Express and Wilderness Run aren't?

I don't mean that in a harsh way--it's just that Shoot the Rapids definitely isn't a coaster (though I can see how it does resemble one in some ways).

Cedar Point does not consider Shoot The Rapids to be a roller coaster. All flume rides have dry lifts, whether it is a conveyor belt or a chain, it is still dry. Never heard of your 80' rule, you can have coasters less than 80' and non-coaster rides taller than 80', makes no sense to me.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

So the elevators over in the Breakers are roller coasters? Huh.

The Giant Wheel is now my favorite roller coaster at CP and has been since they removed Space Spiral. I still feel that Space Spiral was the best roller coaster even though it is no longer there...

I ride in airplanes, and airplanes go over 80 feet in the air. Cool! I've just quadrupled my coaster count! :)

You can't possibly not be aware of the issues that every single Intamin ride has had, right?

Millennium Force: Blocking and lift control was problematic first year.
Wicked Twister: Blown electrical components, ill-fitting restraints, and modification to the support structure.
Top Thrill Dragster: Was down part of the first year, up time is awful.
Maverick: An entire section of track had to be redesigned, delaying opening by a month.
Shoot The Rapids: Tons of down time, boats apparently couldn't navigate the channel, then the lift failure.

If that's not enough...

Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion: Trim the drop, reprofile the first turn, replace restraints.
Pilgrims Plunge at Holiday World: Awful uptime, lame splash, and it was just flipping boring. Gone after a few seasons.

This doesn't even address the people who have been hurt or killed around the rides.

I think we are all missing a very interesting fact here. Maverick, MF & TTD were all designed by Werner Stengel. Intamin simple manufactured his desgins. Werner also designed Son of Beast at Kings Island - we all saw how well that worked...

I don't think we should be blaming Intamin as much as we are... Not saying they carry no fault... just not all of it.

It's not just at Cedar Point where Intamin's rides are junk. Look at the Busch Garden's drop tower. It opened 4 months late. I'm surprised they're still in business.

I wouldn't put it all on Stengel...He made more than just Intamin..if you need to pull up your handy RCDB to see everything that man has been involved with.

^^On the other hand, what other company at this point in time builds a drop tower that leans the seats forward. In a new design comes risk. If Busch Garden's drop tower happens to work reliably for years, who will remember it opening late?

I will..I mean it did open late..Dragster over the past few years has been running better than it ever did inaugural season & first few years. However I still remember it failing hard it's first year..

The answer is no! :)

One thing I would like to point out is that the concept of all these Intamin and Stengel rides were the first of their kind. If a company keeps creating the same projects (with slight modifications each time), of corse there won't be as many bugs.

That pushing of the envelope is why I admire Intamin and Stengel so much. I don't understand why so many people prefer Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, and Millennium Force but "don't like Intamin". What if MF was built in a traditional 1999 manner with a pre-drop, chain lift, misshapen elements, and block brakes?

Being that I don't live in Ohio, I can only make it to CP once in a while--but if you live near the park, why is such a big deal when a ride opens a few weeks late?

If you're looking for a park with more mainstream attractions, you might be happier at parks like Strickers Grove, Dutch Wonderland, or Cincinnati's Coney Island rather than CP.

If MF was traditional, it would be like Levi...or Fury

The shutdown issue with Intamins is exactly why I didn't go to BGT this year..
