is it about time that Cedar Point should have...

Should we start thinking that CP should begin having their own fastpass system like Walt Disney World or Six Flags..or Universal Studios Parks??

No. Not gonna happen and it should not.

They tried it once. It didn't work out. I also think it's unfair to pay to cut in line :)

Why?

The airlines have been doing it for years.

Which I never understood. Why would you want to get on the plane sooner? I'd rather be the last one on the plane. That's assuming assigned seats.

It depends.

There are only so many overhead compartments.:)

I don't see this happening because if people had to pay other guests would complain that it is unfair to charge when Disney does not.

The only way I could see this working is if Cedar Point invested money on one ride to see how it works. Magnum is probably the best set for that because it already has a separate queue set up from the previous but unsuccessful Free-Way system; it also isn't hard to change the queue because all they would have to do is put a banister between the steps and it might be able to work.

One thing Cedar Point really needs to improve upon is its queue posts. The card system at Disney works well. If they did this they could have a pretty successful Fast Pass System. Obviously it would cost a pretty good chunk of change to do this. It would be nice though.

Exactly. One of my flights (there were 3 each way) last fall I was about mid plane, but the only remaining open overhead was all the way in the back. So when it came time to deplane, I had to wait for everyone so I could go back and get my bag. It sucked, especially when people are stuffing crap that should go under the seat into the overhead.

And now that they charge you an arm and a leg to check in a bag, more people are using those overhead compartments.

I always go to the park for a day and a half and get all the coasters in and everything else I want to do. I guess what I don't understand is, you already spend an arm and a leg to park your car, to get in, for food and then for any souvenirs you want to purchase...why would you want to pay to skip a line after you already paid to get in? I just think it's part of the park experience to wait in lines. It builds some hype and excitement, for me at least. And it is Cedar Point, the lines do tend to go pretty fast.

^ I agree about waiting in line is part of the experience and it gets you excited. Also if you want to skip lines just do a VIP tour when you visit. Sure its expensive but do you really think a fast pass would be any cheaper?

crazy horse's avatar

I love the fast pass.

I am sick of waiting in long lines. If the line is over an hour anymore, I don't even bother with it.

I paid about $30 for 2 of us at six flags for a flash pass, and we did not wait in any lines all day. That's only $15 more each. It really did make our day better.I really like to do this at parks I have never been to, or parks that I don't get to that often.

I already have season passes to most of the larger parks, and they have already paid for themselfs. So what's $30 to skip the lines for the day?

Getting a fast pass also lets you check out the park at a slower pace as well. You can even check out all of the shows if you want and not worrie about weather or not you can get all the rides in that day.

I have only been on dragster once this year, because I don't feel like waiting in the long line.

I just don't think a fast pass would be the right thing for CP to do nor would it be fair to guests who gut it out and wait in line.

crazy horse's avatar

It seems to be working great at the parks that have it now.

You also had to wait in a line to get the fast pass.

We're too strategic about when we visit the park to ever have to worry about something like this. Rarely, very rarely, have I waited more than 20 minutes for any ride at CP in the past 5 years.

You may wait 5 min.

A very small price to pay to not have to wait in anymore lines all day.

No more than 20 min? I highly doubt it.

I said rarely...not that it never happens. Maverick and TTD are the only two rides that are the exceptions. Let me explain:

Most of our trips take place in May on weekdays before school lets out. We never, ever go on weekends during the summer, and we only go on Fridays during Halloweekends.

When I go to a park that has fast pass, I judge the crowd before I get one. If I pull in at noon, and there are maybe 100 cars in the parking lot, I will skip the fast pass. But if it's a saturday in july, I will be getting a flash pass.

Your not forced to buy it. It's just another option that they have to make your day better.

Why did CP get rid of the system they had anyway?

crazy horse's avatar

Bacause of the way they did it.

They stamped your hand, and you could get no more than 2(?) stamps a day. They ran out of stamps 15 min into the day. So unless you were there early, you would not be getting one. The line to get the stamp, dwarfed the actual ride line.

It was just a poor system.

A lot of parks are starting to hop on the flash pass wagon. I know that dollywood has them now, and I believe that lake compounce is trying out some kind of flash pass system this year. I could be wrong, but I think kennywood also has it.
