June 2 (Friday)

As many of you know, this is coastermania. Does anyone want to meet sometime during the day at MF?

I am going to be there June 1&2. Were and what time?

I was thinking noonish at MF's entrance.
I'll be at the CoasterMania, and probably bringing a pair of Motorola Talkabouts. Anyone want to agree ahead of time on a "Guide to the Point" channel that we can try to hook up on? :)

(Of course, with the growing popularity of these things, odds are we may run into another group, but we'll se...)
Greg thats not a bad idea, i mean it cant be offically used as only a "Guide to the Point" channel because of the many guests that use them, but everyone should set aside a channel to talk to members of the site on.
True, there's no way we can say "this channel is for official use only" (well, we could TRY, but I don't think we'd get very far ;) ) but I think agreeing on a channel beforehand could help coordinate a meeting (or at least help direct traffic -- "we're in line for the Mine Ride, it's light, c'mon over...")

I don't have a Talkabout handy (they belong to the travel club I'm a member of, I'll be signing out a pair for CoasterMania) so I can't throw out a suggestion right now, but as June 2nd comes around we can try to coordinate...
Thats a great idea.

I don't remember the channel/code combinations, but can you go up to 19? If so, do channel 19, code 5, as the last number of this site's IP address is 195.

i have them too i was also thinking of meeting at the free lunch you get maybe we could have a gttp table for us :) just a thought what do you think?

magnum of MF now that is a real question.
I like the GttP table idea!

Jeff, the TalkAbouts have 14 channels, 38 codes, according to Motorola's web site (I don't have one handy -- the web site is at http://commerce.motorola.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/CategoryDisplay?cgrfnbr=7&cgmenbr=126)

So we might have to say Code 19 on Channel 5 ;) That is a good idea though.

Note that not all FRS radios support the privacy codes (even within the Motorola line, let alone other manufacturers). Hopefully anyone from GttP who can bring an FRS has a higher-end one that supports them :)

Given the range, it *might* even be possible for us to chat outside the park the night before to coordinate a dinner or something :)

BTW, where's everyone staying for CoasterMania? I'll be at the Best Western Cedar Point (the one on Cleveland Road, not far from the Causeway; it has a Perkins in it, which'll at least be good for breakfast Saturday morning.)

I'm booked for Thursday and Friday nights.

OK, we could use the second to last number in the IP and make it channel 12 code 7, for the 127 in the IP address.

That works for me. 12/7 is the first choice. If there's too much interference we can switch to 5/19 as a backup.

Noon at MF, if I haven't gone back to bed to rest up for the evening's riding ;)

If I'm remembering correctly, I think the FR50's don't have the privacy code on them, unfortunately.

this is Great, I may actually get to meet some of you though id only be coming in for the starlight hours as my family, friends and I are coming up friday afternoon mostlikely and then leaving on the fifth. Ill post back later when I find out more.
Though i'm not really new to Cedar Point, i'm relatively new to this board, and to CoasterMania, which i'll be attending (i'm from Los Angeles). Does anyone know approximately how many people will be showing up for the event? Just hoping the lines won't be too long, though I have a feeling a huge turnout will be expected for MF.

Thanks!
John
