June 26 More supports arrived.

Today I went to Cedar Point 6-26-06. As I drove by the Breakers express there were 2 semis unloading even more pieces of supports. They seem to just bang the supports around. I got a view pictures with my camera phone but there way to crappy for Walt or Jeff to post here. Just thought I would post an update.

Interesting. Any particular length of the supports? Thanks for the update.

Thrills Around the Corner!

Just send them to Walt. He might post them anyway. Thanx for the update keep it up.

Sounds like they work for the airline companies....

I didnt stay vary long but they didnt seem big at all. Maybe 5 feet tall from the ones I saw. It cost money for me to send pictures from my phone to my email and its only a view of them unloading and its seems like a mile away.

I know not many supports have arrived yet, but I have a suspicion that the vast majority of this ride won't make it over about 25 feet tall....

Keep in mind that if the ride is 200 feet tall, you're not going to see a 200 foot support beam. You're going to see pieces of it that are going to be pieced together. It looks like a lot of the bases are arriving first.

That is why I said it's only a suspicion. However, there are sections that are at least 40 feet in length on Dragster and many other coasters, and nothing even close to that has arrived. The ride will probably have one or two tall points, but judging from footer patterns and what's shown up so far, I am guessing it won't be high off the ground in most places.

Yes, Maverick is going to be the world's longest kiddie coaster. It's going to be a giant 25 foot tall version of Highroller in Vegas. It will just lazily dip and turn for 10,000 feet and 5 minutes of pure boredom;)

Well, to put things in perspective, I don't believe The Voyage goes above 40' tall after the midcourse brakes and the second half of the ride is the best coaster experience I've ever had by far.

Which is good, because they'd be pretty 'sunk' if the pieces for the top of a hill arrived before the ones for the bottom. :)

Hey, It would make a pretty good lookin monument, one piece held up by one 200ft support beam.

Har har har, of course when the ride is built the bases will be put in first, but as far as unloading them, they are obviously doing it in order. Nothing is out of the ordinary here...:)

Ride on, MrScott!

I was at the Point today as well. I hung around the construction zone for a half hour or so, and had a conversation with one of the workers. I don't want to say exactly who or what his job was, because I don't want to see him reprimanded for what I'm about to pass on. Let me just say I think he was in a position to know a good deal.

A couple of people passing by called out to him, asking him in a kidding fashion what the new ride was going to be. He told them he wasn't allowed to say anything about it. They went on their way.

ME: You must hear that question one hundred times of a day.

GUY: You wouldn't believe it. But I can't tell them a thing.

ME: Yeah. People, I tell you. Don't worry, I won't even bother asking. I won't waste your time.

Chit-chat about the weather, the park, etc.

ME: Hmm. Those footers are really coming along. Wonder when they're going to be finished.

GUY: Oh, they were supposed to be done by the end of June, but we're way behind schedule. Now it looks like the end of July probably.

ME: Well, whatever it is, we'll all learn come next spring.

GUY: Yeah. Hopefully it will be done by then.

I am so proud my degree in Psychology finally came in handy. ;)

You guys can figure out the ramifications from here. I've tried to reproduce our conversation as close to verbatim as I can remember.

Well, in that case, I hope they're way behind schedule, because I don't think what's there would make for a very long ride... :(

I had the same thought.

Makes you wonder. With such an early start, "behind schedule" seems like a weird thing to say. Makes you think "Wow this must be pretty big!"

And I'm not reffering to height.

That, or they are trying to get started on the second of four coasters being put in on the off season for 2007. Just saying.
