Kennywood Swingshot/SkyHawk comparison

The question I have about the maXair double checking is why not check once, have two people start in the same place, go opposite directions, and meet in the middle as was standard on several coasters until a few years ago?

I think the reason for double checking restraints is because the majority of accidents in the last several years is because the were not being used properly, for whatever reason.
