Launched Dueler?

The more I look at these new pictures (on a different site) the more i'm starting to think that this could possibly be a dueling coaster. Many of the footers are positioned in a manner that suggests two tracks side by side. If this is the case, my question now becomes....Is there a launched dueling coaster in existence? Before you guys rip me apart, i'd also like to know what you think about this concept if it does become reality. I would love it personally. I've ridden Dueling Dragons in Orlando and it was a blast. Also, could this ride be possibly launced from below ground level? There are some VERY interesting things taking shape right now.

Not enough footers or land to fit something like that. We would also most likely see two different track colors.

I thought we had ruled out dueling a while ago? Evidently some didn't get the memo. There are several places where this could have been asked.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Hi dj .I said that about 2 months ago that this is going to be a racing dueling coaster but no one would believe me im glad you think this also.Just look at how many footers and that some of the fo0oters are so close toghter.

It is not out of the realm of possibilities, so I asked it here. I know that this board is full of interesting thoughts, so i wanted to hear some of them.

That's what makes things fun...guessing, when we have no idea really what it will be. I admit it, you guys have made me addicted to this board. I check in every couple of days just to see some of the ideas that people have. Some people have a tendency to just disregard any free thoughts that don't match their own, and that really sucks, but other than that it's pretty cool.

DJ what makes you think that its going to be launched from under the ground.Guys dj might have a point here .A while back i thought i seen to different shades of red in the staging areas.

Nope, all the same shades of red, at least originally. Any change would be from sun fading. The only area of footers that could even suggest dueling is the long section of footers right behind Frontier Inn.

Another thing, the water table prevents underground structures. It would simply be too expensive. You've got the problem of draining, keeping it dry throughout pouring and drying so that water doesn't get mixed in and make the base weaker, etc...

Not to kill your creativity, just stating the hard facts. *** Edited 7/21/2006 5:09:27 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***

I'm not sure that it will, there has been an area lately where much digging and working has been going on. They could just be pouring deep footers, but it's hard to tell. That is just a thought, the underground part. But the lauched duelers is the part i'm starting to really like. But now in retrospect, those footers that are close together are mostly on the turns, so it could just be a HELIX....that makes sense too. But what about the row of four footers that form a long straight line? Could be two coasters side by side ( a launch or lift hill area).

If you look closely you can see that the sets of footers in that section don't really run parallel. It appears as if there will be one or two fly-byes, so to speak, at that section. Possibly even track crossing. But this is definately a single track ride.

That area with lots of footer is most likely for a station and storage track. The areas the dig trench like holes are filled with concrete and create a base for footers.

Well, you guys are coming up with many facts that are killing my idea. I can tell you one thing for sure though, this thing is gonna be hella-bad. I can't wait until the next pics come out so i can come up with another theory which can be shot down. Also, has anyone tried to create MAVERICK with rollercoaster tycoon 3? We need a better aerial shot once all of these footers get made and maybe it could be done. I'm gonna try because I basically have no life whatsoever...but it's all good.

Umm I don't think so. Not enough footers and room.

Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.

^^It's much cooler to try and make one on a simulator like NoLimits....or Hyper Rails if you have it. Though I dont think there's any real need to do any since the announcement is in august. By the time we get any good aerial shots of the area, there'll be enough supports up to guess portions of the ride's layout and the announcement will probably have already come by then.

But dont let me stop you!:)

What if it turns out to be a ball coaster... just thought i'd throw that back out there.....;)

Please no ball coaster!!!......that's all I'm saying.:)

Considering that Intamin hasn't shown any signs of progressing past vertically oriented, 400 ft. long models, I highly doubt this will be a Ball Coaster. If it is, and I win the lunch with Monty, I'm going to ask why they went with such an unproven model. There haven't even been any Ball Coasters built that progress to any type of a horizontal layout.

I know its a way out there idea, but Cedar Point is known to take risks.... ;) *coughs* dragster *coughs* and who knows maybe they've figured out the horizontal thing.... *** Edited 7/21/2006 6:34:00 AM UTC by Aaron_toledo***

Horizontal thing?

^huh?

Sorry to burst your bubble dj, but I believe that all of those close footers are just for supports like the big A frame things that we saw on the 19th.

Don't qoute me on this, it's just a guess.
