Losing Your Stomach...

Just kind of curious.... My husband, before he rode MF, said its been a long time since hes got that "lost my stomach" feeling on a coaster. After he rode MF, he said he finally got it back! How many of you can say the same? I myself almost lose my stomach on alomst every major coasters.

The more you ride it, the more you want it!

~~~Darla~~~
I lose it more on Demon Drop than on the Force.
I used to lose my stomach on anything and everything, but ever since I became a season pass holder I hardly ever lose my stomach on anything(not even MF). The exceptions are the turbo drop on Power Tower and Raptor in the back seat. Raptor gives an absolutely insane "yank" in the back of the train
The "Turbo Drop" sides of PT gives the best stomach feeling.
Thats very true, Logan..I only ride the back right on Raptor!
Raptor gives an awesome feeling, so does Turbo drop on Power Tower.
Millennium Force doesn't really. But the hill is awesome anyway.
I agree with Dan, I didn't really lose my stomach at all on the Force.
The only coaster I ever lose my stomach on is the Raptor (far left, back row)
I think the best seat to lose your stomach on raptor is back left. (exactly Rperz) Although I ride back right. (very good fire & logan gotta love the yank and hanging over the midway). I did not lose my stomach on MF. other rides you loose your stomach are iron dragon, the second hill before the loop on corkscrew, a tad on geminis drop and the most is on the drop side of PT. and we must not forget the big hill on mine ride HEHE
Yeah, I thought I was the only one but I didn't even lose my stomach on MF. It was amazing. I did on the drop side of PT and a little on Gemini.
Hooper you said it exactly. Now that I think about it, all those rides you mentioned I do really lose my stomach on. Does anyone else lose their stomach more on Iron Dragon than on Magnum?
I have not ridden it, but from a physical standpoint it makes sense--the power tower fires you straight down so your stomach shoots to your throat. But MF is so close to straight down that your stomach is actually being pushed back. I don't know if that is correct but thats what first came to my mind.
The thing that really screws you up on MF is the sustained time you spend in a 0 G environment, then the sudden positive G's, return to negative G's, and so on. The result is your body begins to adjust to the 0 G environment and doesn't pump as hard to get blood up from your feet, to prevent swelling in your head. You hit however many positive G's you experience in the reversal of 92mph at the bottom of a 300' drop while still in this mode, causing blood to well at your feet. Then you hop up the turn and the G's relax, as your body attempts to adjust to the high G's it has just experienced, meaning it pushes its hardest to get blood to your brain and likely causes swelling. The remainder of the ride is this sort of G conflict but on a much lower scale than the first 2 hills.
For people who are conditioned for sharp variations in gravity (fighter pilots, rollercoaster enthusiasts), this is just the next scream ride. But this is really dangerous for people who aren't. This ride damaged me in ways I detail in http://www.guidetothepoint.com/thepoint/cpplace/thread.asp?ForumID=2&TopicID=2000. Don't bring friends on this if they haven't been riding rollercoasters or flying jets lately.
This is pure crap, what qualifications do you have to say this ride is dangerous? There is no reversal of 92mph, that comment doesn't make sense. You are spreading your posts of misinformation all over this board in different threads, for whatever hidden agenda you may have. Don't listen to this guy people, he doesn't know what he is talking about.
Relax, Pete he has no hidden agenda. He's simply stating what he sees as the truth because of the way the coaster made him feel and the effects it has had on him. The ride just isn't for everyone.
On the other hand, many non-enthusiasts seemed to enjoy this ride. I'd venture a guess that it's something else in the person's physical makeup that makes him or her more resistant to the G-forces felt on this coaster.
Dr. Brown has signed off on the ride as being safe, and I suspect his numbers show less intensity over other rides.
Is this ride comfortable? You bet. Pete and I were standing in the queue yesterday and watched an average of 68 (out of 72) hands in the air on every train. If these people aren't having a good time, they sure know how to fake it.
Regarding changes in forces... check the math and physics. If you had to graph the G forces from the top of the lift, you'd see about a second and a half of zero down the hill, a quick spike to 4 (this is no different than Magnum), and a gradual let up around the first turn probably to 2 if I had to guess, because you're still being pulled in the seat on the first turn at high speed. If I had to guess some more, you're first shot at getting less than 1 G would be when you finally crest the third hill, as everything else from the bottom of the first hill on has you pinned to the seat in the form of turns.
But none of that matters, because if the ride makes you feel all wrong, it's a general phenomenon caused by all coasters, not just this one.
Re Jeff:
Can't be the same as Magnum. (Warning: not based on any facts) It just can't be. I don't even feel Magnum's pullout. MF's, oh I felt it. It was like nothing I've ever felt before in life. Also, I was there Sunday, and I just didn't see the enthusiasm everyone was talking about. While in the queue, my sister and I observed reactions that were no where near the reactions of returning Magnum riders from two years ago. I don't know why, granted I thought it was far more thrilling than Magnum, but that's how we saw it. There were plenty of people with their hands down. (I certainly wasn't one of them). One of us even noticed a handful of people who wern't even smiling?!? We were a little worried by that! But it was great in the end.
Re Backstreet Girl:
I have to agree that some non-enthusiasts loved the ride. My sister's friend never rides coasters and begged us not to make her ride but literally thanked us after it was over.
Hmmm...interesting that you never felt the pull-out on Magnum. Now I will concede that pull-out forces in front are not as severe, but Magnum still pulls a few good g's down there--probably more good g's than any coaster prior to MF. Just my humble opinion.
I dont know, Raptor I think has more G's at the bottom of the first hill than Magnum. that's just my opinion though. As far as the stomach feeling goes, I didn't feel it at all on MF and I think its because of the reason stated by Timoth713. Awesome ride nonetheless.
I realize that saying MF did bad things to me on this board right now is like trying to tell a group of hungry gorillas food is bad for them - you want this coaster bad and some people are going to get angry at me for suggesting the coaster isn't perfect. But the intent of my posting is to warn people about its possible ill effects. I felt really terrible for the past couple days and want to get the word out. That's the only agenda I'm on.
I will also say that during the ride it was absolutely thrilling in a million ways. The speed is awesome, the smoothness despite that is amazing, and the view is incredible at the top. Even the lift is exciting. I agree, it's unbelievable. It just isn't for some people, and that's what I'm trying to get out. Ideally I'd like to see some people that aren't ready for this avoid the coaster before feeling the way I did. I'm feeling better today, but it really sucked.
I am sorry you feel that way. :-(
