Maggy the Sea Gull

Jeff's avatar
Has anyone noticed, after visiting several times this year, that a sea gull (I call her "Maggy") has nested on Magnum's first tunnel, and she's always there? I can't believe a bird would be that interested in hanging out in such a noisy place like that. In any case, she's been there since Longeberger day!

Ya, I noticed that bird last weekend. I can't believe it can stand it there either.
She was there last night. :)

If she's inside the tunnel itself, the tunnel offers good protection from the weather.
I, too saw her--though I just thought she was just sitting there and didn't have a nest. Very interesting!

what about the birds that have nested themselves in MF's tracks by the stations?

She's on top of Magnum's first tunnel, at the seam of the first two tunnel sections. You can see her coming down the second hill.

I heard magnum was down a little bit when i was there today (sunday). And the reason was maggy laid eggs in the tunnel.

I saw the nest too. Didn't get much of a chance to see the bird but do remember seeing the nest. Just wait till the summer heats up and that tunnel gets to 130 degress.....scrambled or over-easy? ;)
To clear something up;

-Jeff, the bird was gone when we rode tonight.

-Maggie is the name for Magnum, we need another name for the bird.

-Hooper Magnum was down becasue of wind the other night.

Nobody ever said that seagulls were real smart about where they made their nests. Does anyone remember last year, when a seagull made her nest on the second or third support tower of the Sky Ride!! When the cabins would roll over the tower, her tail feathers, which were hanging out of the nest, would get run over, too. Her tail feathers were covered with ride grease.

Lots of seagull nests on top of the Coliseum, too. I noticed that yesterday, Memorial Day, when we rode the Sky Ride.

Maybe not all of the seagulls know they're supposed to hang out and do their "business" on the Raptor.

Interesting, I though that Maggy was scare-gull. (a decoy placed up there to prevent real gulls from nesting on the tunnel)
