May 7th and 8th

I know May 6th is Season Passholder Preview night, but according to the calender, May 7th and 8th is "Sneak Peek Weekend" and then the following weekend is opening weekend. So the question is: who is allowed to attend the sneak peak weekend? Is it only a selected few like Media Day or can passholders attend too? Thanks!

I'm counting on passholders allowed in on May 7th and 8th. They let me reserve a campsite for the entire weekend. I guess I'll find out come Saturday morning.

Valravn World Premiere Weekend is May 7 and 8. Both days are normal operating days open to season passes and single-day tickets.

Wow I must have completely skipped that when I read that blog. So pretty much it's an opening day. Thank you Walt.

If they are just going to be normal operating operating days, why don't they just call May 7th opening day?

Maybe because they are closed Mon-Thurs of that week, so they are not really open for the season yet, which implies daily operation?

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Maybe, but Kings Island and Carowinds (and probably other parks) have their opening days weeks before they start daily operation.

My guess is that it is a partial experiment with opening a weekend earlier than normal, and also a preview weekend for Valravn, which should draw an above average crowd for May this year.

Not sure why everyone (the park included) is saying that May 7 is earlier than normal for opening day. I remember opening days as early as May 3 (2003 for Dragster) and as late as May 13 (2000 for Millennium Force). Every other one has been somewhere in between, but usually right around the 6th through the 10th. I don't have old park maps to prove it, but I am pretty sure.

I've actually been working on a page for that:

For a numbers geek, that's pretty interesting data to watch the trends over the years. Opening day has pretty much fluctuated between the first and second Saturday since the mid 70's

The Cedar Point calendar also varies with colleges in Ohio / Michigan (among other states). Even though there are older employees who work at the park, a good chuck of Cedar Point employees are college students who start a day or two after their last final in May. They then go back to college the day before the first day of class for the Fall semester.

Everyone (Season Passholders, regular ticket holders, etc.) is welcome to attend what we're calling, "Valravn World Premiere Weekend" on May 7-8. All rides will be open and the park functions as normal.

The fact that we're closed the few weekdays after, May 9-12, is going to be very different, and that's why we're celebrating Valravn's opening the weekend prior. It's like an "early bird" special. See what I did there?

It's a celebration! We may even have balloons!! And confetti!!!!!

We have never been able to do an 'Opening Day'....we are more the 'Last Day of the Season' people. You're making it sound like a party...may just need to try to fit this into the schedule.

....just remember keep the confetti at the Point, that stuff makes such a mess! ~you can sweep, mop, vacuum and dust...and will still find confetti in every small corner! Lol

Hmm - some of the opening days more recently were later than I remember. I must be losing it. :)

Is the Season Passholder Preview Night definitely happening on Friday the 6th or did that go away with this change?

My calendar shows it's on Friday, May 6.

What time does the park open on May 6th, has that been set yet?
