Mean Squeak's problems...

It seems that most people agree that a combination of greasing the track and using different trains could perhaps at least help the Mean Streak with its many problems (not too mention all those trims...)

So my question is: What is keeping Cedar Point from doing those things? Why don't they just buy new trains? Is it too expensive or too hard to find the right trains? Why don't they periodically grease the track? Or are they just hoping it will fix itself by adding more trims? Any ideas?
The trains have a self greasing mechanism. Every time a train goes by the track is regreased.

They DO NOT have a greasing mechanism. Do you honestly think they'd squeal like that if they were properly lubricated?

I think the Texas Giant my have that self greasing
mechaniam.

Remember, line jumping is NOT a sporting event!
Whats wrong with the squeeking? That just gives more personality to the ride.

If it is making a screeching noise, that cant be a good sound. The screeching comes from friction, and probably means that something is being damaged or badly wore out.

Is there a reason why it is not greased/oiled?
My original question was why they don't just buy new trains or lubricate the track if that might help? Does anyone have any clue why CP is holding out on the poor ride???
Could a wooden roller caoster have the same type of wheels as a metal rollert caoster? That would not wear down the track as much, the would just have to retrack all the bad spots first.

This has been talked about to death (a synopsis can be found in the rides section of this site). If it was as simple as us amateur engineers think it would be, don't you think they would have done it already? There's obviously something more to it that we don't know or understand.

Ah, thank you Jeff. That solution was really pretty obvious (that is the solution that we don't really know the solution :))
It may be quite a simple solution -- merely an expensive one. I know coaster trains are not cheap.
If Cedar Point can afford a 25 million dollar coaster they could afford new trains if that was the only problem.
