Mean Streak- Redone

Waldameer is just over in Erie, Pennsylvania, with two wood coasters, Comet and Ravine Flyer II, one of the best wood coasters ever. In my opinion, at least. Looks like your daughter would be able to ride all four of the park's coasters.

Plus you can stop off in Conneaut, Ohio, for a meal at the White Turkey Drive-In. Great sandwiches and house-made root beer, what's not to like?

He's a man..we know boobs quite well..well..most of us :P

Voyage is great..but there are other coasters there that are even better. I'll ride Raven anyday over Voyage..Voyage is overhyped, it's great, but pretty rough. If it's their fav coaster I understand where they're coming from..but how do people pass up Raven

By the way, Pete, are you an expert on how boobs bouncing on a roller coaster feel? LOL

Actually, I've never felt any while riding a roller coaster, maybe that should go on my bucket list. :)

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I would recommend The Voyage, Raven, The Beast, and Shivering Timbers. Add Thunderhead to that list if you're willing to drive to Tennessee.

The Voyage is relentless! The amount of airtime is insane and the 90-degree banked turns are tons of fun.

The Raven is great too! It has held up well over time, and gives a fairly smooth ride. My favorite part is the dip down toward the water.

The Beast is incredible! The ride goes on forever (it is the longest wooden coaster in the world). It's rough, but the roughness makes it fun. The helix at the end is craziness. If you can, make sure to snag a night ride.

Shivering Timbers is loaded with airtime! My favorite seat is the second to back seat, because you get the same airtime as the back, but you're not on a wheel making for a smoother ride. It is a pretty long ride too.

These are just some of my favorites. I personally don't like Mean Streak, but if there was a short wait for the front seat, I would certainly ride.

Loving Maverick since 2007!

That's pretty good.

Waldameers Ravine Flyer 2 is a mini version of Voyage, and packs a huge punch with its insane amount of airtime and 90 degree banked turns! Its a top 10 coaster in this little family run park. One ride on it and you will get why Mean Streak is a huge waste of time, space and lumber.

Kinda sorta..but not really relevant but worth the share since we're talking about Mean Streak.

Colossus was on fire earlier today, partial collapse of lift hill crest

See: http://ktla.com/2014/09/08/firefighters-respond-to-report-of-fire-a...r-coaster/

Beast is very smooth lately, it has been worked on quite well the past few years, plus sitting in a non wheel seat it's more than tolerable. Honestly to me Beast is quite boring, lots of flat straights of nothing. The first hill, airtime hill, and final helix are all that work for me, and mainly that's for night rides only. I rarely do daytime rides anymore, its not thrilling at all. I'll go ride Racer anyday, it dumps on Beast IMO

Beast is brutal if you're not sitting on a middle bench.

Front two cars any seat aren't that bad.

Rear row last car..things shake and vibrate that never did shake or vibrate.

I felt bad when I read the first post, Knowing that she probably isn’t aware of the "If I don’t agree with your idea, or if it's been said before, I'm going to insult you till you no longer post" crowd.

Just wanted to say don't let the negativity deter you, we all love Cedar Point the same, just some people don't know how to just ignore a post they don’t agree with.

I myself still enjoy Mean Streak, possibly because I’ve learned to never lean back on the seat and to anticipate each upcoming turn before I hit it. Would also love to see the brake removed from the downside of the hill. It would be nice to see CP retrack this, however I think the cost would outweigh the interest that would be generated.

Just my 0.02

We all would love the trim brakes removed from MS's first drop, but in reality CP adds that trim because MS will beat itself to an un-rideable status.

I've heard that runs have been made throughout the seasons, with the trim brakes off on the drop... But no way can it run like that on a regular basis, like it did in it's first few years! The ride was just built too big for it's time and had a design that is meant to run fast, without a single trim but it's mid-ride brake run. The problem is... It can't run as intended, hence has to be altered just to make it rideable throughout the entire season! That part of the park is just sad and like a ghost town, thank God for Maverick saving Frontier Town! I wouldn't be surprised if we say goodbye to MS in the near future, unless of course it were to get the treatment?

All I know is my first ride of the year on MS was in June, and my most current was in August... Well I couldn't shut up in June how despite the trimmed out ride, I actually enjoyed Mean Streak and was one the best rides I've had in recent years! My ride in August was the exact opposite and I'm a 30 year old male who can take a beating.... It was one of the worst that I've had in recent years ... I cant believe CP would let one of their rides operate in that condition, somebody honestly can get injured on it! I couldn't wait for it to be over, it was bad!

IMO there's a line between the rickety/rough woodies that people enjoy, and woodies that can dislocate a body part!

I wonder if relocating the trim brakes just slightly farther along and not on the hill would be a viable option and cause any improvement? Free falling down the first hill would be nice. What if they trimmed it on the way back up or going down the 2nd hill?

Yea your totally right.. the trim is a necessary evil.. I remember waiting 3-4 hours to ride when it opened and was it wild And i've also been on a few times when they have the trims off and its about as close to its original state as it will ever get. Wasnt this designed by Dinn? I believe he was one of the designers of the beast as well.

Frontier town is sad, you almost forget MS is back there, especially when theres no crowd of people walking back that way.. It would be awesome if they could improve it somehow and make the 2nd half of the ride more interesting, after the mid course run im usually just praying that the pain and beating stops lol.

With all that being said, I still love MS the same way I love DT.. I would be flabberghasted if they tore it down.

Dinn was the manufacturer of Mean Streak, but the designer of Mean Streak I believe was affiliated with the group that designed The Beast? I'm not positive, but I do know that The Beast was manufactured in house!

As for Frontier Town... Hopefully Mr. Ouimet and Mr. Decker go and give it a HUG!

Both the designers and builders of Mean Streak were Dinn & Summers.

It was quite interesting for me to read some time back that the in-house building of The Beast spun off to many of the great wooden coaster builders thereafter.

As long as this thread has been bumped I'll mention Mean Streak was giving some nice rides closing day. The trims we're barely having any effect. You could hear them but not feel much catching and the ride was much faster and smoother than most ofthis season.

I agree! It was giving really great rides.
