Mean Streak opens @ 11a?

When I was there this past week, while entering MS's line i saw a sign posted that said something like this "This attraction opens at 11:00am." I was just wondering how long that has been going on and if anyone else has noticed this.

This might be because nobody gets there untill that time.

Thanks MDOmnis. After reading all those hopeful posts that "this will clear up when the season gets busy," it's clear that it's not. And yes, I know that certain big name parks have rolling openings. But that was always something I loved about CP, that it didn't engage in something that felt, well, slimy, in a vaguely overly corporate sort of way. I guess CF has joined those ranks.

This bothers me more than I think it ought to. It makes the park feel a tiny bit less welcoming to me, and a tiny bit more...calculating. Unfortunately, like so many other changes that are not for the better for us enthusiasts and enthusiasses, we'll probably get used to it.

I feel you. I was hoping that it would go away when the busy season rolls around, but I think that time is already here and it's not going away. If it doesn't stop the first week of July, it never will. I hope I'm wrong on this, but I don't see it happening. I don't think that was ever part of their plan.

I still don't take this as a big deal. Very few people go that way when the park opens, even if they do, there's Skyhawk and CCMR to ride before 11 comes around. This gives the carpenters who walk the track every morning an extra hour.

It's a big deal to anybody who would want to ride Mean Streak between 10 and 11.

It was something of a routine for us to hit Millennium during ERT, catch a quick lap on Mantis, then head to the back to ride Mean Streak and some of the other Frontier Town rides which have no lines in the morning...

I hate to see CP doing the 'typical' thing. My feeling is that CF is just expecting an off year in general this year at the Point, and will hopefully restore its uniquity in 2007.

Ride Skyhawk and walk slowly to everyones favorite ride all of a sudden. Or better yet, wait for 11am to come around and be the first one to ride for the day.

We where at Cedar Point last Wednesday through Friday. Disaster Transport and the Turnpike Cars are two other rides that did not open until 11am. It seems to me that there were a few others however, I don't remember which those were. They were not "major" rides.

Once they start closing things eary, then we have something to worry about.

We always did MF or TTD first thing then would head back to Frontier Town for an early ride on Mean Streak, CCMR, etc. In fact, we loved staying away from the front of the park madhouse, such as it is first thing in the morning.

Needless to say, it was a bit disappointing on my first and second trips to see MS AND CCMR weren't open.

C'mon...how can you have only Skyhawk opened in Frontier Town, especially with Skyhawk opened for ERT??

Even more strange is doing this with all of the talk about increasing traffic in that area of the park. In order to get people to come back there, shouldn't they give them a reason?

It's a big deal because up until the last couple of years, most of us would never dream that the park would do this sort of thing. Now it's right up there with "why seatbelts on Corkscrew," "why does everything in Frontiertown close so early," and "why no more 11pm closings on weekdays?" If you can see what I mean...

Oh, and you're lucky if those rides are open at 11. On a number of the last few trips I've made in the last two weeks or so these "11am opening attractions" haven't even been open at 12:30! And that's completely uncalled for.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels the way OldCPer does. And Dj's point is even more valid. With only one attraction open in that part of the park between 9:30 and 11 it isn't going to attract anyone.

Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon open at 12:00 N. during June and 11:00 A.M. in July and August.

All other rides open at 10:00 A.M.

I'm reasonably sure Corkscrew was one of the late openers as well. Maybe that changed?

Those are definitely merely the scheduled ride openings...

Hey Race, are those for sure times? Because I'm heading out there with some once-a-year people on Wednesday...and I want to make the most out of their day. Normally, my plan includes hitting all of the (boring) stuff in the back first (Gemini and MS...along with Maggie, but she's not boring!), then moving towards the front. However, if MS is going to be closed, we might alter that plan a tad. So, if you know for sure, anyone, please post. Thanks.

Last public train of 2005 on MF!

Yes, that is what is scheduled, but as I mentioned, sometimes those scheduled to open at 11, aren't opening until a little after 11.

MDOmnis, when I walked by Corkscrew at 10:00 the other day it was open, so I'm guessing not.
