Mega Drop

So Me and a couple of my friends just went to a carnival a gibralter trade center in mt.clemens michigan, and we all decided to go ride the Mega Drop. We waited for about five minuites to get on and when when we got to the top we started counting because we timed it and we were all like hey its been 14 seconds why hasnt it droped yet. Then two minuites later it starts to make hissing noises and the ride is going up an inch then down an inch, and im freaking out. Then they started two lower it and it got about 10 feet down from the top and started rising back up. I started freaking out just let us down. Then we sat up at the top for a good 15 minuites just waiting for it to drop then out of nowere it droped. Anyways That just totally ruined my chances with power tower because for being stuck up 135 ft in the air I couldnt even think of what it would be like to be stuck up at the top of the power tower.

Trust me they can get you down...

Perhaps using a scissor lift..

I have never heard of anyone stuck on PTower.

Well, I've seen the towers estop before. That's always fun. They slowly (very slowly) go back into position.

Oh, please.

First of all, you're at a Carnival. Those rides only take a matter of hours to put up. They aren't that fun and safe to begin with.

Don't even compare it to a Cedar Point ride.

That's almost a sin.

you'd be fine. i worked it last year and my favorite part of the job was to help nervous guests. i never forced them to ride, but encouraged it. 9.7 times out of 10 they loved it and came back later. Like i said, i worked it last year and heard all the rumors, to which none are true. You will be fine, It's run with compressed air, which at some poin has to let loose, thats why when the ride e-stops, the pressure is so great, it can't be held for that long so it comes down slowly to the bottom. :)

Brandon said it all perfectly. I don't ride Carnival rides for this very reason. The safety part of CP make it all the better.

Im not comparing it to Cedar Point. Im just saying that now after that happened its just something that I will never be able to do for a while.

Get over it!!! It was a crappy carnival ride, and probably run by a grungy heroine addict at that!!

This is a quality amusement park ride which has emergency stop procedures and trained operators. I highly doubt the carnival workers know what to in the case of an emergency. They probably can't even spell emergency!

Not to sound harsh -- but not one person got injured or killed on your ride (that you said anyways) while my friend was on Wild Thing when it crashed, and he is planning on riding soon, and people did get injured on that. Nothing happened to you or the other riders from what you mentioned.

Also, like everyone else is saying, it is a carnival ride. What do you expect? Don't expect it to be like the saftey at Cedar Point.

Like Bodes said, get over it. Giant Drop and Power Tower aren't even made by the same copany I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think S&S makes transports. They'd be to expensive.

If you're afraid of the Turbo Drop why not try the Space Shot side first? I know more people enjoy the anticipation of the drop on freefall rides, but I get scared waiting at the top of them. When I went on Space Shot for the first time I was afraid that it would be really intense, but I prefer the ride experience. You're less likely to have a malfunction that strands you at the top of the tower, and because the ride duration is shorter the wait is always less on the Space Shot side of PT. AND the little jolt at the top of Turbo Drop as the car reaches position hurts my back.

I can't do the Turbo Drop side of PT anymore. The whole not knowing when it's going to drop is to much for me.

Sorry for making it seem like I said that the power tower compares to a Fabbri drop ride. Thats not what i ment. The only reason I said that mega drop ruined my chances with power tower is because after riding that I almost passed out and it is something that I cant handle. Sorry for all of the confusion.

I still think drop zone at PKI or CFKI or whatever its going to be called is one of the scariest rides i have ever been on. PT is a great ride on both side but somthing about DZ just makes me feel more scared. I do believe its higher and mabey the fact nothing that close to it is as high except for the tower and sob and for pt ttd is right next to it practicly but yea there both freat but you wanna rush go on DZ when all the cars are leaving and all the brake lights are on and the lights form action zone are shining up peer bliss.

I don't know about Michigan, but in Ohio carnival/fair rides are inspected prior to their opening... or their suppose to be. Either way, there would probably no way you'd get me on a carnival ride to begin with.... ;)

You should understand what you're talking about before you go spouting off nonsense.

idk once again I didnt mean to get anyone mad. I just thought that it would be something to tell, and get some feedback on other people getting stuck on them. Also why would you say that all of the carnival rides are crap. My uncle owns a carnival in michigan and I know how they set up and tear down rides. It is true for some carnivals but I wouldnt go off and say that every carnival is crap and you should never ride the rides. http://www.playworldamusements.com/

I remember riding a ferris wheel at a carnival a few years ago and my lady said she could smell liqour on the breathe of the carny operating the ride. The ride was the fastest ferris wheel i had ever been on. On some other ride where people went upside down peoples change would fall out of thier pocket onto the ground and the carny operating this ride would just pick the money up and keep it. LOL Carnies are such great people.

If you don't want the carnies to get your change, secure it before riding a ride that goes upside down. My scout troop used to clean up in the mornings of our church festival (St. Anne Sausage Fest in Warren) and cleaning under the upside down rides was always most popular because there was bound to be change. And most carnies aren't that bad.
