My opinion

My post that disappeared was not a trip report on Canada's Wonderland and Kings Island. It was simply my comments and comparisons.

I don't know why I couldn't respond to my own thread, but I am starting a new one.

FYI, I thought that Canada's Wonderland was cleaner than Cedar Point in every aspect. I've noticed while being in that country, they seem pretty meticulous to detail.

Basically I was saying that CW was a nice park, and they takes things like line jumping very seriously and do not tolerate it at all. I witnessed (and helped) a man get busted for line jumping while in line for the Italian Job and he was personally escorted off the ride by security after 2 warnings over the PA system. He had his chance to step out of line but he chose not to. As a result, security actually followed through. I was highly impressed. (I have told on MANY people at CP for line jumping...I've even gone as far as having my hands on both rails so they can't get by me. Yet CP never follows through on a report of a line jumper.)

Midway Market at CP hasn't got a THING on CW's International Buffet. The food at IB is better, and includes things like peel and eat shrimp, stuffed cabbage, along with the prime rib, etc. Season Passholders get 25% off (passholders from ANY Cedar Fair park) of their entire bill, and with 3 adults and 2 kids, we ate for $65 at International Buffet.

Anyway, if it seems like I am critical about Cedar Point, I am. I've emailed them numerous times with comments, suggestions, etc...they just never do anything. They've even laughed at my suggestions before.

Cedar Point is probably my least favorite park to visit. Too bad it's the one I live the closest to.

Yeah it must be horrible to live so close to the roller coaster capital of the world. I'm so glad that I'm as far away from CP as possible. In case you haven't noticed, Villian, this site is a CP fan site, not a CP bashing site. I understand that there are certain park topics that deserve some criticism. But there are a lot of people (including me) who would die to live near the park. And for the record, you can't reply to the other thread because it was locked by the admins.

If you don't like living near it, move.

And just because you live near CP, no one is forcing you to go.

How about them Tigers?

They're turning around. Part of me wants to say the slump is over, but the athlete in me says don't jinx it. So, they are still slumping. ;)

I don't think she ever said he doesn't like living near Cedar Point. It's just her least favorite park, and for reasons anybody should understand. The food is without a doubt the worst part about it. Ridiculously high prices, ridiculously low quality, abysmal service.

I would love to live closer to Sandusky and if it were financially possible I would.

Cedar Point has to be doing something right because here I sit waiting in anticipation of my next trip in October counting the days. Also I find myself checking Cedarpoint.com and Pointbuzz.com several times a day throughout the week.

I live about about 10 minutes from Kennywood Park and after my first trip to Cedar Point I never looked twice at Kennywood and have not gone there in years. You get much more "Bang for the buck" at Cedar Point & Cedar Fair parks.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it.

Piss on it and walk away.

^ Same here. I'm going in 6 days, and I've been counting down for a month and a half. I love the place. I've passed up two opportunities to go to Kennywood this month to take a two-day excursion to the Point.

Everyone knows the food situation at the park isn't a good one. It's been discussed time and time again. It's by far CP's biggest downfall. And though you're entitled to your own opinion, I don't know how it could possibly be your least favorite park.

Besides, if you dislike it so much, why are you posting here? *** Edited 8/13/2007 8:28:50 PM UTC by Jamie the Crazy***

It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.

kbp1972, with all due respect, you do have to look into Kennywood again, it is another truly wonderful park that I would love to live near (the only problem I have with it is no Season Passes) because their collection of golden era rides is one of a kind. There is not CP and all other parks, Kennywood is not CP (and visa versa) but that does not mean that both cannot be great parks.

As for Villanlover, variety is the spice of life, and I have noticed the more I go to specific parks, the more critical I get towards them. Check out some CW sites, Im sure they dont have the same view of the parks as you do. I consider myself very lucky to be living close to any theme park (I live in Toledo, and 1.25 hours is the shortest I have ever been to a park I own a SP at) let alone the Rockin Roller Coast. There are other enthusiasts that live more then a day trip away from any park, you are not going to get too many kind responses when you regret living near CP, which also means you live in Ohio where there a bunch of parks not named CP near by.

^^^^Okay? That means she dislikes the park, but it's the one she happens to live closest to. What's the big deal?

It's a freaking opinion. Look at the title of the thread. Don't understand how she could possibly dislike Cedar Point? Open your eyes and realize that everybody is different. You don't have to be a fanboy to post on this forum, so chill out.

Yeah you don't have to be a fanboy to post on this forum, but be prepared to be hated by many when you bash Cedar Point. I for one value everyones personal opinions, but i think its a very risky and stupid thing to go and post something like Villian did on a fan site.

Yes, but why would you? I wouldn't waste my time going to fan sites of places I don't like, just to rial up the people there that do.

I don't hate Kennywood I have been there hundreds of times and it is a great classic park. I have just evolved and have moved on to different things. You can only go to the same park so many times without wanting change. Kennywood's rides are old the only modern coaster that they had was neutered and made wimpy!

Keith

^ Hey now, hey now!!! Haha. No, I am also a Pittsburgher, and I agree that you can't go to Kennywood say 10 times in a year like you could in a bigger park like CP, but I think the people who live near here don't know how good they have it. Despite being a smaller park, it is still highly regarded by many enthusiasts and packs a decent thrill for most. Best of all, it has that nice feel of a traditional family park. Granted, Kennywood will never be anything like CP, but by no means does that make it a bad park.

Hold on everyone!!!

First off, I am a woman, not a man!!!

But anyway, let me explain....

I do not come to Pointbuzz to "rile people up". I was just stating an opinion, that's all.

I am probably older than many of you. Growing up, Cedar Point was the only park I knew. My parents took me to Geauga Lake as a young child (when they had "Geauga Dog") but I do not even remember it.

I remember when Cedar Point had the "String bracelets".

I have been a season passholder since like 1992 or so...I very much enjoy checking out other Cedar Fair parks. There is good and bad about all of them, I am sure.

When you check out other parks, you tend to find fault with those you already know so well. I think that's true with anything.

There is probably room for improvement in every park. Most of their other parks I've only been to a couple of times. I am sure if I went on a regular basis I would dislike some things about them. Since this was only my first visit to CW, I really thought it was cool.

As for Kings Island, I hadn't been there since 1988. There is a lot about that park that I like. But I cannot give all the credit to Cedar Fair, since both of these parks had just been taken over and were formerly owned by Paramount. Much of it has probably stayed the same.

I would LOVE to get out of Toledo, trust me, but there are certain things at the moment that are keeping me here. I actually wouldn't mind even being more centrally located to CP, KI, and GL. That would be really nice. KI is over a 3 hour drive for me...I get tired driving at night, and I think all hotel rooms are disgustingly dirty and I try not to stay in any. It takes everything I have and plenty of stops along the way just to make it home from GL (a 2 hour drive) at night without falling asleep.

I like reading Pointbuzz...I like answering people's questions if I can. I really get a kick out of people waiting in long lines (more than, say 30 minutes) to ride a 17 second coaster. But I DO understand that people plan on going to Cedar Point and it is a "vacation" for most. Sometime long lines cannot be helped and if you want to ride the ride, you have to wait. However, waiting in lines that long is not for me.

Incidentally, I would like to add one more thing. When we were at KI on Friday, we were sitting on a bench near Flight of Fear and the X-Flight...err...I mean, "Firehawk". I got to talking to a woman that was sitting there who was from Indianapolis and she had told me she wished they would have made the trip to Holiday World instead. She said Holiday World was better than all of them, including Cedar Point!

I think Holiday World will probably be next on our list. I'd like to see what all the hype is about.

^Far be it from me to scare off another women. I need more gals posting as it is!

Occasionally, the site does get those kind of people that want to do just that. Glad to know it's not you Villian. I am one of those that will wait too long to get the 17 second rush of TTD. :)

Edit: P.S. You probably needed to hit save log in, in order to not have been timed out for your initial post. It allows you more time to write than just being "logged in".

That's a load of crap. I criticize the park more than anyone else here and I've been doing this for nine years.
