New Gemini in 2013

There is always a topic about rides getting taken out for no reason on here. It is getting annoying, and those coasters are still popular for families and older people to ride. But here's the question: IF they were to remove mine ride, what do you all want in its place?

It's still a fun little coaster that packs a punch. Park needs more of those, because they removed wildcat and DT. I am looking forward to gatekeeper, but the park still needs "in between" rides that parents can ride WITH their kids, not more baby rides where parents can't fit and they have to watch their kids spin around on those tiny rides.

I agree with some of what you're saying, but at the end of the day it's not really a family ride if it has a higher height requirement (in the case of mine ride, 48").

I'm thinking of something along the lines of what Disney has. Space Mountain, their mine ride, and others have 44" or less height requirement. That lets kids 2 or 3 years younger get an appetite for thrill rides. Heck, even Woodstock Express has a 48" requirement for kids to ride alone.

The 48" requirement on Mine Ride and Woodstock are absurd, but then again, so are many of the "safety" procedures at CP.

Gemini is still one of my favorite rides in the park. After reading through this thread it would be cool to flip one of the trains but like others have said it just wouldn't work. That final helix would be insane going backwards, fun, but crazy, lol.

I would love to ride the Gemini backward~~~

You can't under emphasize MaverickLaunch's point enough.

Cedar Point has consistently displayed one of two things over the past 3 decades:

Either;

1) A complete disinterest in building any new family rides altogether,

or

2) Complete ignorance as to what makes a family ride.

I've never liked Mine Ride, so frankly any type of replacement would be an improvement in my eyes.Maybe Matt has an idea for a new family coaster that will make up for the two losses we've had this year. Mystery Mine anyone?

Despite it's lack of thrills, I truly miss DT for its story (or attempt at one, haha). I can only hope that Cedar Fair will begin to embrace that side of thrill rides, especially and most importantly for family attractions.

I have full confidence that the family gap will start to be filled in the coming seasons.

I wonder if they'll ever use the pirate ride building again. If not for a family coaster, maybe a dark ride?

They do use it. For storage. ;)

Of course, but those two things can easily be moved elsewhere.

Not sure if it would even be large enough, but I sure see it as a viable location for any future family attraction. Better than removing an existing ride at least.

What happened to Gemini trains on Mine ride idea?

Well besides seeing a picture of it during the off season (last year), nothing.

Ouimet is a Disney guy. They're all about theatrics. I have high hopes for theming and stories and "plussing up" everything in the future.
