New home for Terror Island

Park General Manager, John Hildebrandt, just started tweeting today. His first tweet says he is looking for a new spot for our beloved Terror Island. Thought everyone would like to know they aren't going to let it disappear.

I doubt it would be called terror island though because there's no other islands but good to know.

"Terror Area" just doesn't have the same ring :)

I think "Terror Alley" or "Terror Zone" would be good.

How about part of soak city?

(If there was logical way for people to pay just one addmission price and experiance both the park and soak city huants)

08 -Thunder Canyon, 09 - Maverick, 10 - Mean Streak, 11 & 12 - Mean Streak ATL, 13 - Maverick TL

There is other parks that have Pirate themed zones run by Cedar Fair, I can see them taking a name from one of them and using it here.

This could actually work because soak city is closed during HW anyway. So it's not like people will be able to sneak away and go on water slides.

Also.. What is johns twitter?

I don't remember it off the top of my head, but Cedar Point's official twitter tweeted his handle earlier today.

I'd be ok with this. Oh, and that should say "there are other parks..."

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I think the hardest part of moving Terror island isn't finding a place to move it to, but to find a place where all the scenery would fit in and be able to make it seem like a pirate zone once it is opened.

I think "adventure island" was a great place for it because there were all those trees around you which actually made it feel as if you were walking through the jungle on a real pirate island. Sure they can stick all those boxes and treasure somewhere else, but you just wont get the same feeling without all the trees around.

Yeah, how about bringing the old Pirate Ride back (the exterior that is) and have it be a walk-through attraction? LOL. So I take it this means the Dinosaurs will be open for Halloweekends? Not sure if parts of the Shoot the Rapids layout can be used, in the same manner Thunder Canyon is used...probably too narrow.

The pirate ride building is already used for the house on BOO hill

Yes, dinosaurs was open at KI for Haunt, so I'm sure they will have it open at CP.

I like the Soak City idea. Finding a way to integrate a queue which gets there is the tricky part.

During Haunt at Kings Island, your admission to the Dinosaurs Alive attraction also got you the ability to go "Trick or Treating". I imagine, the rest of the parks will do the same.

I think his latest tweet is better than his first.

"Lots of sunshine on the midway today. Removing old lights on Giant Wheel, getting ready for Ignite The night in 2012!"

Yay new lights! Hope they are LEDs. Is the new show incorporating Giant Wheel, or is this gonna be park wide?

I don't think it has been announced yet.

I'm starting to wonder if Luminosity will be Cedar Point's version of ElecTRONica at Disney California Adventure in the sense of a nighttime event that covers an area of the park. And perhaps like the DCA event they could sell novelty drinks (which apparently has made considerable money for the park) and special foods along with the usual nighttime glowing stuff. People always talk about the lack of nighttime activity at the park and the resorts, something like that might be able to address both in a way.

I think a show over by the beach would be nice. Have fireworks over the water and LEDs on the giant wheel and windseekers lights would look great.

Hope Starlight will remain.

Imagine your favorite tv show. You've been through it all. The ups, the downs, the crazy coincidences and then bang! They tell you what it's all about. Would you be happy? Does it make sense? How come it all ended in a church? - Joker
