Oceana gone yet?

The indoor Bernstein Bear Country replaced the Earthquake ride.

As for the cause of death of the dolphins...I seem to remember it had something to do with a disease of the lungs.  The size of the "pool" was not a factor in the deaths.  Those animals were well cared for.  The trainers were with them since day one and the sadest part of the story is the devastation they had to deal with when they died...not to mention they lost their jobs.

The pool had a license that would have permitted 6 dolphins, yet they had only 4.

I have heard from a good source that the Aquatic Stadium will be around for at least another season or so. The dive tower is still there, and that is owned by the Dive Production Company (Sacco Shows). Also their contract was extended for the 2002 season.

I have also heard that just the old aquarium (the arcade now) and the offices that were located next to the stadium were coming down.

In CP's future, does anyone think they will bring back anything like this again? (Oceana, Jungle Larry's) They seemed to be so popular when i was young, and now there is nothing except the petting farm.
IMO animals are for zoos, CP is for Coasters.
I think the Funhouse was where the acquarium used to be.  I  THOUGHT the Wildcat was where DT is now.  The original Wildcat had red rails.    Wasn't there a beach house somewhere there at one point?  Gosh...going back 30 years...it's hard to remember details.

The WildCat was, at one point, near the Disaster Transport location. However, it was moved there to make room for Oceana.

If you look at this picture, you will see where the WildCat and Sealand were in 1972. The Funhouse would be just out of range of the picture. You can also see a portion of the beach house in the photo.

I think the aquarium was still there with the funhouse next dooor to the south of it. The old Wildcat was to the north of the aquarium and the Jumbo Jets were south of the Space Spirial. I don't remember what was between the funhouse and the Jumbo Jets.

The Funhouse was removed to make way for Kid Arthur's Court which was removed to make way for the Giant Wheel.  To be more precise, the Bathhouse sat where the Giant Wheel is now, and the Funhouse/KAC sat in front of it.  And let's not forget that the Matterhorn used to sit between the Wildcat and KAC, as did the Himalaya.  And way back when the Cyclone...  :)

In other words....a new, unobstructed view to the beach.  Maybe even a "Pardon our Dust...we are expanding with a ________."
I'd like to see pictures for that...

Glad to see my memory isn't that far off. Too bad they didn't have those nice small cameras in the 1960's when I was a kid.
