Off-season contests, quizzes, games, etc.

Common entries/Rare entries/CP Trivia will return this season, but probably not until after the holidays.

Two reasons:

1) With the new coaster going in and the park having been closed for only three weeks, there still seems to be enthusiasm on the boards.

2) I've taken on greater responsibilities (unpaid, mostly) that will look good for me in regards to future promotions, and the particular project I'm running will be over by January.

Until then, here's a quickie:

Where at CP will you see the words "Mueller Co., Decatur, IL"

First one to get it right gets an all-expenses paid visit to Walt's Virtual Midway.

Is it the Midway Market?

I'm guessing Last Chance Saloon.

Can I sell my prize if I win?

Hey, I've got a one-time game for later in the off season too (It was going to be more, but I got lazy.. .more on that later). Perhaps I can collaborate with you, DB?

Crap, you know I've seen it before. It's either forged on a ride (I'll guess Scrambler) or found on fire hydrants. Don't ask how I could confuse the two.

Scrambler would be "Jacksonville, IL".

I'd say fire hydrants or manhole covers.

Train engines or cars or train stations. (Yeah I know that's pretty broad). Also for some reason the MS area comes to mind

I'll have to agree with either the fire hydrant, or maybe a water valve cover on the midway.
It's the hydrants. Sneaky.

The midway Carousel is my guess!

It is certainly a hydrant, but are all of the hydrants of this brand? Maybe this is a unique hydrant?
I think Teenie Weenie was too busy giggling :P to realize schlubs like me cheated and looked up 'Mueller' and 'Decatur' in Yahoo for the answer.

I wonder if I ran into her on WT? But an even better question--how does a 5'8" gal get a name like 'Teenie Weenie'? I thought that was tall. Now there's a question I can't check Yahoo for...

That is on the White Water Landing ride

A related question for the guys in the group...

Gentlemen, by now you probably know the phrase, "ROYAL - Sloan Valve Company - Chicago USA". But that's not what you generally see at Cedar Point. What do you see instead? I'll offer full credit for a one-word answer; if you know the rest you're doing better than me. :)

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

Uhhhh....I might idly read my cereal box while I'm eating like anyone else, but I have no idea what CP's official urinal might be.

I think this might be answer #2 or 3 to the question, "When do you know you've spent too much time at the Point?"

Dave, I'll have to go with "What is Zurn"

To answer Duane’s question, I am pretty sure it is a fire hydrant. Dave, I’m not really sure, but a wild guess would be Optima, the Sloan replacement autoflusher.

Sorry, Pete, but LiveEJon has apparently paid more attention than you. Most of the flush valves at the Point were made by Zurn.

(Dave peruses zurn.com for a moment)

You know, I understand that the "Retro-Flush" is an optical sensor retrofit kit, and as such the name makes sense. But isolated from that important fact, just considering the name alone...do you really want to flush backwards?

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

"Mueller Co., Decatur, IL" is on some of the water meter covers. The rest say "The Ford Meter Box Company Wabash, IN"

The only reason I know this is I am from Wabash so everyhere I go, I see if "The Box" is there.

Ding ding ding!!! We have a winner!

It is indeed the water valve covers along the Midway. Props to Junior for being the first (even though he couched it as a second guess ) and to KB9TFZ for being the most sure (outside of Playa - you cheata!) LOL
