Paint

When Raptor was painted the Plain Dealer had a picture of a painter. He was using a roller to paint a support on the ride.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

They don't paint roller coasters with paint rollers...

I think it time to paint Magnum. Has it ever been repainted?

I think Magnum still looks decent. The test painting may have shown management how little of a difference that the new paint makes. It's not exactly cheap to repaint large roller coasters.

Magnum wasn't exactly retracked. They didn't remove the track and replace it with new track. Instead they cut the rails off with a cutting torch and welded the new rails on.

I imagine they marked the rail where the the new track would join. Then cut on the waste portion of the rail with a torch then grid the metal to the line with very close tolerance. Then used a jig to hold the track in place with very tight tolerancing then welded it into place. The last step would be to repaint the joints as the rail was already painted. The repainting can wait for the next night because they will be pushing the ride opening by then.

Orange looks better than red as it fades to lighter orage. Red fades to pink.

So what will this retracking improve exactly?

They might have been touching Raptor up with rollers but I find it hard to believe they paint the entire ride with rollers. I can't imagine how long that would take to paint a coaster with rollers.

either way......REPAINT MILLENIUM FORCE....i loved its blue when it first came out...not this faded color...!...oh yea and why they are at it.....pllllzzzz repaint iron dragon (why not teal and black?) its so tacky!

I imagine for large coasters like Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, and Magnum, they use a crane and someone is in this little box that they can stand in and just spray paint.
