Platinum Pass Discounts

shamrockcb's avatar

Has anyone seen discounts available for Platinum Pass visitors yet? I know that some were available last year and they weren't posted so we found out by word of mouth. I want to take advantage of everything we can ;)

For example, I know we can take a guest for a discounted rate, but it was limited to certain dates. Also, Wildwater Kingdom had bring a guest for free.

Thanks in advance!

Check here:

And normally you can bring guests any day, but the bring-a-friend days are discounted further.

What? The information was readily available right on the park's website?

If you read my entire post you would see that I'm referring to discounts that are not promoted in the most obvious places. Such as bring a friend days, Wildwater Kingdom, etc.

Thank you Thabto

Wherever they're promoted, they're still coming from the park. Why not ask the park?

While on the subject of Passes, for Christmas I cheaped out and got just basic passes. When we go to redeem them for this year will, I be able to upgrade to a platinum for just the difference in price?

Thanks in advance for any info :)

Yes. I believe they will look at what difference in what you paid originally compared to the current pass price. Not just the current difference in pass prices. Because unless you just bought your passes, I'm sure the price has gone up at least once. I hope that made sense.

I've tried that too... my husband does not get a pass due to his heavy work schedule but it's nice to know ahead of time what dates might work for friend passes. It seemed as though the policy was very loose last year but I don't remember seeing anything official online. In early June last year, we happened to be in Sandusky and did call the park, and got bounced around to 4 different people before they found someone who could let me know what the discount was (which turned out to be a $20 ticket which was pretty nice). I'm guessing they never post these as it might discourage friends/family from getting a season pass since they can come along as cheap guests?

Are CP resorts no longer 10% off with platinum pass?

I thought this was the case for years? We always stay at Camper Village (Lighthouse Point) and that was not discounted, but I thought the hotel properties were?

We are looking at staying at Breaker's express Friday May 9th. I can get a 2 bed room for $82. It's something like $20 more for a campsite, plus I'd have to tow my camper down there!

May 16 and 17 $19.99, other days $39.99

Yes, but only for certain dates, and the dates seem to vary by resort. You're not likely to find a discounted room at Breakers in mid-July, for example, but you probably can find one in late May.

I think they stopped doing them for the campsites since it has now become Lighthouse Point. Once those expensive cottages went in, away went the discounts.

Sandcastle, Breakers and Breakers Express still let you use the discount. Only Select rooms at Breakers though. Not good on Holidays or Halloweekends.

According to an e-mail from Cedar Point, at least some platinum pass holders can bring one friend for $9.99 on any one date in May.

No word on whether existing CP platinum pass holders (or platinum pass holders from other parks) are eligible. My platinum pass is from Kings Island.

Thanks for sharing malem, I'll have to watch my email. I know Carowinds offered the $9.99 bring a friend one time too. I wonder if you have to have the email or can just use your pass for the discount at the gate? and if all Platinum Passes can get one? I'll have to look into it. .

I read it that's a perk for a new purchase/upgrade, not for existing holders.

I haven't received an email from Cedar Point in a long time...

I emailed CP and received a message tonight. It sounds like Platinum Passholders who purchased before opening day can purchase one Bring a friend ticket for $9.99 at the gate on the day you bring your friend. Offer expires approximately May 24/25th (she wasn't sure of the date).

I plan to try it when we go May 15th, our passes were purchased at the beginning of the year.

shamrock cb- I received a reply to my tweet to Wildwater Kingdom. Platinum Passholders 'can bring a friend for free one time during the season between May 23- June 30. You can also bring a friend for $15.99'. https://twitter.com/wildwaterfun/status/598578312676569089

My mom also received an email from Cedar Point Park Admissions Supervisor that confirmed each Passholder may bring one guest in May for $9.99.

I have a platinum pass and I'd like to get this deal, but how do I go about getting the 9.99 ticket? Is this only for new platinum pass holders? this is my 3rd year of having a plat pass.

When we bought our guest ticket at the gate we asked for the $9.99 one - I could even see it on the screen as they rung us up. It worked for my family- all 4 Platinum Pass members for 3-4 years now. Each of them bought one ticket at $9.99. We bought each one separately- 3 on Friday and 1 on Saturday (our other 2 were $19.99 for the Season Passholder Appreciation Weekend). Call and ask to check for sure. Hope that helps. Have a fun trip!
