Posters (the wall kind...)

Hey Jeff, I have a question for you...

(I know that you ususally like them to be sent to you directly, but I thought others might like to chime in...)

Have you ever thought of blowing up some of your pictures from the Gallery and selling them as posters in the Store? I know I would buy one, and I'm sure some other people would, too (It is hard to find wall posters of roller coasters (hey that rhymes!)) Maybe you could have a vote to choose which ones get blown up...

Also, while on the topic of posters, are they selling those big 99¢ Park Guide posters yet? Last time I was there I couldn't find any.

I'm no lawyer, but I think that would require a property release from CP. I've briefly entertained the poster idea myself after having people tell me they thought my posters were actually purchased.

Walt is right on... The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum actually sued a guy for selling photos of the Rock Hall, and it's in public! I don't know what happened with that suit, but since CP stuff is on private, closed property, I'm sure it would be unwise.

Oh well, maybe some people from CP will see this thread and they could distribute posters there. And while they are at it, why not set up an on-line CP store on their site? That would be good...

I've always wondered why Cedar Point didn't sell large posters of their signature rides. Marketing must know something we don't.

As I recall, there actually was an online store on the site at one point, but it really wasn't done well, and was subsequently pulled.

Also, other than the real fanatics, I'm not sure that there would be enough market to pay somebody to do it up right.

What about the posters like the ones you get at the Rockin Rollercoaster with your picture in it? I'm sure alot of people would buy posters...look at the pictures they sell for $8!

Walt and Jeff are right because it is private property it is illegal to market photos taken on their property. If you shot from out in the lake then you could do it because that is in the public view. You would need a property release from the park to sell photos but don't think you would even come close getting one. Basically take them for yourself and make your own art.

I know from personal experience how nifty large posters from CP would look on any wall. Seven years ago, my son had asked for some historical information from the CP Public Relations department, for a research paper he was doing on John Miller. CP, was, as always, very helpful, and sent a whole packet of stuff, including a three-foot-high poster/calendar of two trains running on the Mean Streak. When the year was over, we merely cut-off the calendar part, and kept the MS photo on his bedroom wall.
