Potential Disaster Transport refurbishment

That would be very suprising as it would cross the enire park from side to side.

Haha as impressive as that would be I actually meant one coaster where Turnpike cars are and a second one where DT is (and won't be hopefully). Two coasters; one year. That would be really cool

...And really expensive.

It's plausible tho. One coaster could be an extreme, record breaker-esqe coaster. Maybe not "the tallest" or "the fastest" but certainly extreme like Maverick was. The other could be a family style coaster. It would fill the void left by removing a family coaster (DT) but wouldn't leave crazy coaster lovers disappointed because there would be the other new one. Not that CP cares but it would increase their coaster count despite losing one (again assuming they would remove DT). Personally this would be a great way to introduce a family type coaster to the park, because it would be tough for CP to promote that type of ride on it's own. Look back at the recent coaster additions; they've all been extreme, scary (if you don't like anything besides a tame coaster), and often time record breakers. It would alomost be a let down if CP builds a family coaster after a 5 year gap between that and Maverick. But building two coasters could negate all of that. It would be expensive but not impossible.

Impossible, no...but extremely improbable. I couldn't see CP worrying about upsetting a handful of enthusiasts if they put in a family coaster only. I would even go so far to say that some people on this site would probably appreciate the steps the park is making to promote a family atmosphere. I know I would.

I've read quite a bit of the postings on here and you are right, even the most hard core coaster enthusiasts can appreciate a nice family ride. But I think even average fans might say "after five years of no coasters, we get this?" in regards to a family style coaster.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know of a park that has gotten two roller coasters in one year before? I can't think that it's happened too much, but then again my knowledge is really only limited to Cedar Point and Kings Island

Six Flags Ohio, 2000. They built three.

And that certainly worked out well for them.

^ Ah good point, thanks

According to this, Magic Mountain also opened 3 in one year.

I will point out that Six Flags Magic Mountain opened two coasters in 2011. They opened a family coaster and a big coasters for the teens and adults.

Does anyone really think that Cedar Point would do something like this? I think it would be a great move; something they have never done before.

I would not look for Cedar Point to add two coasters in one year ... ever. The money and drive just are not there. Personally I see 2013 for Cedar Point's turn at a thrill coaster but I don't see another big coaster at the point until 2020. The majority will be family attrations.

I'm happy with all the upgrades. Yeah, a new shiny coaster would be nice, but all these little improvements make me happier than a coaster would.

I agree, I would much rather get the whole front entrance and main midway redone and several other improvements than a coaster. A nice flat ride with that would be nice too.

Actually, Six Flags Ohio built 4 new coasters in 2000! Batman Knight Flight, Superman: Ultimate Escape, The Villain, and Roadrunner Express. Although Six Flags didn't pan out in Ohio, 2000 was quite the year for Ohio parks!

Son of Beast didn't pan out either.

Not only did they build 4 in 2000. But they also built one in 1998 and another in 2001. 6 coasters in 4 years. Simply insane.

^ The fact that none of them are still there makes it even crazier!

About as crazy as suggesting that any park build multiple major attractions in one year.

Promoter of fog.

How is it crazy? It's a top park that hasn't put in a coaster since 2007. It would be huge and a little extreme but not so crazy that it couldn't be done. Not saying it will happen but it certainly could.
