Power Failure

Just got back from the park. Most of the park had a power outage. I was stuck on Mean Streak. Took about 20 minutes to get me off. Then had to walk behind rides to get to the rest of the park because the RR gates were down. Main midway shops looked like they had power but no rides were running.

It was for the best. The rest of Mean Streak would have been much less enjoyable.

Promoter of fog.

We were waiting in line for Raptor when the power went out.

Mean Streak saw a lot of action today since Maverick, Rougarou, Magnum, Skyhawk, Wicked Twister, and Dragster were all down.

Were they down before the power outage?

I arrived at the park around 1 pm today… and believe it or not Dragster was the only roller coaster consistently operating the entire time (minus the power outage). Once we got off Dragster (first ride of the day) we planned to ride Magnum.. then came the power outage. The entire back of the park was affected. We walked back to Mean Streak and saw the train crossings down permanently... literally "trapping" people who were on the Mean Streak side trying to come back to the other side of the midway. As we walked through Frontier Town to Millennium we were notified by security guards that the park was experiencing a power outage and all rides were temporarily shut down for precaution.

My friends and I left the park to get Chipotle and came back around 5 pm. At this point the only rides that were back up and running were Raptor, Gatekeeper, Iron Dragon, and Dragster. We rode GateKeeper, walked to the front and noticed Guest Services was handing out "Come again for free tickets" or reimbursing people for their tickets due to the power outage.

We then rode Raptor and finished off the night riding Dragster four times till close at 8 pm.

Basically… Cedar Point is off to a plagued start. Wicked Twister down, MF yellow train not ready, extensive downtime on many rides, and now the power outage today. Poor CP.

I'm glad that you were able to ride it. We were at the park for early entry and they were testing dragster so at 10 we hung out and waited for it to open. They continued testing but the green train couldn't make it over the hill so and then they announced that the ride was closed. Sometime after lunch I heard it running while we were over by Rougarou (which was closed) but we couldn't see it so I didn't know if they were doing more testing or if people were actually riding. We were going to make our way back over there later in the day but then the power outage occurred so we gave up on riding for the day and played some games instead.

Earlier in the day Skyhawk was testing while we were at the CCMR around noon but I never saw people riding on it. Gemini was down and I'd heard that Magnum was too. In the afternoon the trains at Gatekeeper seemed to be dispatching slowly and there was a lot of stacking outside of the station. Raptor seemed to be running pretty smoothly until the power outage, but it was closed when we walked by during early entry. For most rides it really seemed to be a hit or miss kind of day. I think the only thing that I saw running consistently was Iron Dragon but that's not to say that others weren't as well.

We had a much better experience with rides the night before and were only in the park for an hour. Magnum was a walk-on and so was Rougarou. Millennium was about a 10 minute wait and would have been even less had the yellow train been in operation. Maverick was down though and that was disappointing. This was our second trip of the season and we still haven't been able to try out the new restraints yet.

Seeing all these rides that were broken down makes me think about what it's like to be a part of the maintenance team at Cedar Point. It must be quite the workload, especially early in the season when the rides break down more frequently.
