Queue enforcement revisited

The following is a true story (and frankly too absurd to make up). The names haven't been changed because I don't know any of the names.

Dan and I (as well as Dan's brother) waited in line last night for The Force, about 70 minutes. Four extremely drunk college-aged guys got in line behind us with paper cups. Needless to say, it wasn't Pepsi in those cups.

One of the guys proceeded to offer us beer, pulling a variety of cans from their pockets including Budweiser and Labatt Blue. I'll be honest, these guys were funny drunks, not obnoxious drunks. Anyway, they'd fill their paper cups and toss the cans to the ground.

At one point near the vending machines, one of the guys lit a smoke. One of the CP cops pounced on him immediately, but had to ask him three times to put it out because he wasn't exactly "himself." These guys smelled like a brewery, with brews in hand, and the cop was right in his face. Was this not obvious enough?

When we got half-way up the ramp, one of the guys lit a fat doobie while proclaiming to everyone within ear shot that he had to use the little drunk's room. As you probably know, you're kind of on display when you're walking up that ramp. That didn't seem to bother these guys, but the women in front of us were really turned off.

Just when I thought they had done it all, they proceeded to urinate off the platform, about where the transfer track is. Nice. Real class acts.

I just found it odd that someone could get away with that kind of behaviour in public, let alone at an amusement park.

There are a lot of things that I can say "I've seen it all", now I can say "I've heard it all!"
Jeff -

Surely you know by now that CP cops haven't been trained to go into the crowd to stop illegal drugs or indecent exposure. I mean, what if the people in the queue actually approved of their actions and turned against the cops???

It's crazy something wasn't done. Their are families there. I don't mind cussing but when someone lights up, is drunk, or in Jeff's case urinates, it really makes me mad. I know I wouldn't want my kids seeing that kind of behavior from quite old but obviously not mature adults. That could really make someone angry and maybe not even come back. I wish CP would do something about it, and not just say that it isn't a problem and they are enforcing everything because obviously its not. Of course some people will get away, but if you catch the majority, it will eventually almost stop.

Just my two cents.
Jeff, why didn't you tell them to stop. Or were they too drunk to realize it? And did they actually urinate off the entrance ramp?!
Even I would have told security after the fact. By NOT DOING ANYTHING you are approving it and by posting it here you do nothing but tick off all of the people who love the point. Next time I would mention to the ride op that they were drunk and high, betcha they would have been taken away!
1)Urinating off the ramp- I can't see how someone would have the courage. Even at my worst, I couldn't imagine doing it.

2) Having a beer in a cup (purchased at the park)while waiting out the line I don't have a problem with, as I've done this myself. When you become a sloppy mess and exhibit blatently bad behaviour, someone should give them the word.

3) If you gotta have a doob that bad, go out to the car!! Sparking it up on the ramp in full view of everyone is just plain idiocy in action. There are plenty of places and ways to "go about your business" without bothering others or drawing unwanted attention to yourself. A fun day can turn bad pretty quick when you demonstrate total stupidity.
Cedar Point......ARE YOU LISTENING? America's Rollercoast appears to be turning in America's TRASH PARK.

CP has built a fine reputation in the amusement industry. We as patrons would appreciate some immediate action taken to not only "curb" these offenses but to eliminate them.

Can't the offenders be ejected from the park? Do you guys care about the families that visit your park? Wouldn't it be possible to post ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICERS at the MF queue. A FEW extra dollars to keep you fine reputation intact would be well spent don't you think? Hummmm, 25 million versus several thousand......seems kind of small in comparison doesn't it? I wonder how many laws were broken in this 1 incident? And believe me I'll bet it wasn't the first.
Cedar Point, You have done a great job in the past in park mgmt, let's keep it that way....PLEASE:)

You can fool others, but nothing you do is hidden from God.
JESUS rules :) :)
When any large crowd gathers (tens of thousands)these things will occur. I'm not saying it's OK by any means, but when a large crowd gathers someplace to do an activity, you will get those who don't show any consideration for others. This happens at sporting events, concerts and other big crowd events. Try not to let a few bad apples ruin your day. If you are there with your kids and they see something and ask about it, point it out as a perfect example of how jerks behave. Lead by example. Kids (at least the ones raised properly)know the difference between right and wrong. As I said above there are many ways this group could have done their thing without getting others upset- they chose the wrong way.
I was there too last nite and something happened with the DJ also. I wonder if it was the same people or not but they shouted something to him and he came out of his booth and chased them then two cops grabbed them as they ran out of the que.
could it be something about the general "party" atmosphere of the MF line in general that lulls people into a sense of security? so they look around and say to themselves, "Hey!! all these other people are having a great time and they haven't even ridden yet!! i'm gonna have a great time too!!" and unfortunately, the only way they know how to do so is be ruining others' fun or by drinking and doing drugs. it's kind of a "concert mentality"..in the last 20 years, i have been to about 20 U2 shows..not exactly big drug crowds, but there are those in the last 10 years or so who feel that the ONLY way to enjoy a concert, any concert, is to be high and/or drunk. one guy actually told me "Sit down, (Expleteive deleted), i paid my money and you got nothing to say about it. this is what concerts are FOR!!!" so i went and found some security. not just ANY security. U2 SECURITY!! hee hee...they took real good care of him....
anyhoo, my point is...some people are just like that..sadly disillusioned about certain things in life, very immature, and taking a great, pure, exhilerating experience and RUINING it for themselves with drugs and booze. i like a beer as much as the next girl, but not while at the park!! we just need to deal with it and not be afraid to "tattle" on someone. to quote my neigbor at that show back in 1987, "I paid my money"....although it may sound like it, i am NOT saying we should become CP vigilantes. we just need to be aware that if we do nothing about the problems, we are helping to cause them.

You'll be happy to know that police presence was the highest it's ever been last night, and that was with a shorter line.

After I exited the platform last night, I noticed that two officers were walking behind the last people who were in line all the way up to the loading platform.

I last saw that (security officers following the queue) done at Hersheypark at closing time. Seems like a very good idea to me, and I'm surprised I hadn't seen it at Cedar Point before.

Is it just me or do drunk people stupid enough to take a leak on the platform getting on a 300+ foot coaster sound like a safety issue? Why wouldn't the CP cops remove them from the line? Why would the ride ops let them get on the ride? And why you sit behind them?! I know I would have just passed that train up if they were getting on the train too.

BTW I hate every single one of you who have rode MF! I'll like you after my trip June 20th but until then I hate you all!!!
I hate to ask this Jeff, but which way were they urinating? Not on the path, I hope...
