Redeeming Premium Season Pass, Parking Reimbursement

No, the idea is that it's faster and efficient to store your details and photo electronically and match them up with the barcode when it's scanned. No slow printing process required. Just open a box of pre-printed cards, scan one, take your picture, you're done. When you enter the park, if your picture doesn't show when they scan it, it's not your pass.

Got my pass yesterday, around 6:30 was in and out in probably under a minute. Went in they grabbed a pre-printed card, scanned it, took my picture and handed me the card. I assume he either typed the info in there (and was really fast about it) or saved it for someone else to do later (probably just my name or something to make matching the card to the info later easier) (more likely)

If they are similar to last years KI passes, there will be a spot for you to sign the pass. So if you keep your families all together and need to hand them out at the gate, you'll know that way.

But there is no printed name or anything on them. All of it is in the computer system.

Nope no name, but you do sign the back like a credit card.

Just uploaded some pictures of my pass. Not very good ones (taken with my camera phone) but should give you the idea of what they look like.

Nice. I like efficiency.

Efficiency rocks, don't ya think?

Was it kind of busy for being open so soon or was it like in and out in 5 minutes type of thing? I'm planning on going sometime soon and we're coming from 30 miles north of Detroit, MI.

So stoked for 2010 :]

You're going to spend five hours round trip in the car to avoid a wait an operational day that won't be five hours? Not sure I get that.

Its longer than that once you count all the construction on I-75.

Well, to be fair, he wouldn't be wasting any in-park time by coming down early. If he waits until opening day, then he will presumably waste some in-park time, though certainly not 5 hours. But if he's willing to trade 5 hours of his preseason time for an hour of his open-season time, that's his prerogative.

I suppose, but time is time. I consider mine a lot more valuable.

As do I. Mine that is, not yours. :)

Its not the 5 hours time that's worrying. Its the 5 hours of 3.55 gas that's a problem.

Yeah, that's $50 he'll never see again. Not worth it, IMO. Then again, I'm not going down on opening day.

I live near I-275 so I would avoid that part of I-75 around Detroit, at least for the most part. At 260mi round trip with 25mpg (hopefully on the low side), that's about 10.4gal. With an inflated price of $3.75 (probably more like 3.50, that's what I'm seeing now, exception being Meijer @ $3.399), that's about $40 ($39 to be exact) in gas just to process passes. I think I'd rather leave at 6am unless I had something else planned. But hey, that's just me.

mk, just to correct everyone... I'm a FEMALE, its probably about a 3 1/2 hour drive there and back with all the construction and gas isn't what I'm worried considering because I'm not driving and my dad is.

No one ever did answer my question either...

So stoked for 2010 :]
