Space

I've just heard this issue tossed back and forth so many times...just by the very nature of space being finite on the peninsula, of course Cedar Point is running out of room. But will this stop them from creating new attractions? Obviously not. That's what planning is all about. But it is completely untrue to say CP has no space problem - it is an issue, but it is one that has solutions.

How do you know this, Cilegna...You seem so certain that they do have a space problem, so please enlighten us?
everyplace has a space problem to some extent. The earth is only so big, the CP peninsula is only so big. Does CP not enough space to add more atttractions? Of course not, but they don't have the luxury of hundreds of acres to work with. Would MF be longer had there been enough space? Would the drop have been as steep had there been space to draw it out? Would they be planning on tearing down Oceana if they had enough space to keep it and put in a boardwalk area? Who knows what the park would look like if they didn't have carefully tuck new rides in around the existing attractions. I am continually amazed by CP's planning of fitting things in places where it seems nothing could fit.
It's just an issue of logic...space is finite, therefore it is an issue in design. But this is just another consideration for planning and engineering. Cedar Point does not have an unlimited space. This is just reality. The term "problem" that we all keep tossing around should really be "design consideration". This is true of any design - whether it be a building, ride, or whatever.
Cilegna, I don't understand why you would even bring this up. You know when people are talking about space problem they aren't talking about everytime CP build something it take up room, they are saying CP in the near future will not have any room to build any new rides or roller coasters. I am sure all the sane people on this site know that when you add something to any space it takes up a portion of that free space. What people don't understand is that Cedar Point has a lot of room. And I have said it before and I will say it again, "Stop looking at the park map to determine how much room Cedar Point has." That is not adress to you Ciligna

Point well received M2G3. My posting was in response to the feeling I get that some people do not realize that Cedar Point cannot "expand" forever - space is truly limiting that. What they can do I cretively introduce (and remove) to accommodate new attractions.
I'm baaaacck.
CP DOES NOT HAVE A SPACE PROBLEM!
While Cilegna is technically correct about CP cannot "expand" forever. CP DOES NOT TODAY, WILL NOT TOMORROW,NOR WILL THEY EVER HAVE A SPACE PROBLEM.
CP has more land then you can imagine. Leave it to the "experts" to continue to design and change the park year after year.
Let's try to go a week before we hear "CP has a space problem" again.

That is all.
