Steel Venom goes to Dorney Park?

I'd agree. Looks pretty definite.

Thrills Around the Corner!

Hasnt it been that way for a while (ie when Dorney added more power lines to their property this year?)

Heres hoping that GL gets a nice addition out of this blood letting, I sincerely hope that the 50s area/old water park gets rehabed next off season. Im not asking for much, just some flats, paint and TLC allthough a mouse/Mack spinning coaster would be a nice add on.

Just cleaning it would be nice. Tear out the old crap and put it in storage if you're not going to use it right away.

They had the time and money to do this with SV, why not the water slides? Why have they let the slides and area in general over there just sit? If you're going to let one area of the park look like total crap, why not just let the coaster sit there 'til next year too?

Nah, we'll just take out the monorail so you don't have to ride over it anymore.

Grrrrrr

Ride on, MrScott!

I also find it odd to think that the last time I was there was the only year the Shark Attack slides were open. Its too bad too because I remember enjoying the enclosed one.

I think GL should get Lazer and a flat to be named later in return. ;)

^Lol.

My favorite was, "Others feared the park's neighbors might complain about the ride's noise."

If that's the case, maybe they shouldn't have moved next to an amusement park to begin with. The park has been there over 100 years. Except perhaps for generational homes, there is no one that was there before the park.

I find it somewhat ironic that "news agencies" are now using fan sites to write their stories. Sites known for gossip are now sources for "reputable" stories. There's just something a little messed up about that.

Where's Geauga Park by the way?

JuggaLotus's avatar

^ that scares you?

What about the bloggers being the "leading source of news" during the last presidential election? That's even scarier (not that you can really trust the regular news media either).

Goodbye MrScott

John

I didn't say it scared me. I just think it's ironic. News isn't really news anymore. It's speculation and gossip. I guess that's just a sign of the times. When things like Wikipedia replace real encyclopedias, something is wrong. I guess it does scare me that the "fabricated" news from the media influences so many people. For some reason they're not smart enough to realize they're being duped.

It's pretty bad when Jon Stewart's fake news is often more accurate and informative than the real news.

I don't remember where I heard it, but a survey was taken on viewers of stations such as MSNBC and a second group of people who watch shows like the Daily Show. The Daily show viewers were more informed about politics and current events than the MSNBC viewers. Now, that's ironic.

It's all about the ratings.

As a member of the media I do admit that *some* outlets, especially the cable news networks are quite irresponsible with their reporting. At the local level, there are shops that produce garbage and there are shops that still uphold high journalistic standards. In local news, It's about good management and good people.
These broad, sweeping generalizations aren't qutie fair, quite similar to someone coming on here and denouncing all of us coaster enthusiasts because some ACEr cut him off in line for Magnum.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

Please tell me where these pillars of journalism exist because Ive lived in a bunch of places now and not once have I seen a non biased paper that didnt inflate stories. Besides the fake news on comedy central the only news I catch on a daily basis is Headline News because CNN cant corrupt too much in the half hour format, they still fill it with fluff but they also manage to touch every major news story (most of the time.)

Find yourself a local paper (weekly papers are great) and a communty based TV or Radio news agency. I would have a hard time believing there's not at least one in every major market. Sure, you'll always have some stations who love the "Flash & Trash" journalism, which would have you believe it's not safe to venture out of your home. But, there are usually a few outlets visiting City Council, Shool Board meetings, protests, things of actual importance to the community.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

I dont like CoasterBuzz because its a rumer site mostly. Besides why even beleave this untill they approve the ride and say its gonna move to the park. Its like beleaving that Geagua Lake will get a hyper. Its just a rumer untill you see it being built. These newspapers and news networks need to interview a real coaster club member. I seen a few times to where a news person does a interview with someone about a ride that had a accident or a ride they like and try to guess the stuff about it. Its not there fault though they dont know about it its just the fact that they are asked by the news person who asks anyone they see without asking if they know about the ride.

I really have a hard time finding anything that isn't flash & trash. It was really well illustrated last week in Virginia.

Jeff's avatar

Uh, CoasterBuzz isn't a "rumer" site (but then if you can't spell, I wouldn't expect you to get it anyway). Read the news section and please tell me which of those stories are "rumers." No matter what you "beleave."
