Strength in B&M track.

This entire site is filled with two types of people, fans of CP and village idiots who pretend to know what they are talking about. I typically stay in the first category and ignore those in the 2nd category. As an engineer (I am assuming you already received your P.E. and did not just get your degree because that would be stupid), you would then agree with me that the deceleration of the catch car as Jeff has tried to argue unsuccessfully, would have no affect on the shimmy of the track from left to right as they are perpendicular in nature.

Finally, I never mentioned the tower, vibration, nor resonant frequency at any point. I am arguing for the shimmy of the car on KK could not be caused by the deceleration of the catch car. And because KK has more lateral support at the end of the launch, the car will shimmy more on the track itself. Where as TTD has no lateral support other than the vertical supports until it hits the tower. This is why the track sways from left to right at the end of the launch on TTD, no support. This is why there is little to no movement on TTD trains laterally on the track.

Agree?

Throw around your PE all you like, but as you continue to insult, use "engineering" terms like "shimmy" and try to draw conclusions based on the direction of the catch car versus the "shimmy" direction, you're not going to be taken seriously.

You may have a PE, but that doesn't necessarily mean you know what you're talking about.

Look at the back car on TTD when it lets go from the launch. It does one really good shake back and forth. It was more obvious when the engine and fin was back there, but it does it.

I will agree that there's people who pretend to know what they're talking about, but most of them will give in and give up once they have been proven wrong. Some people just keep going and digging themselves into a hole.

Are you saying the trains on TTD don't bounce from side to side on the track because the sway of the track is absorbing that energy while on KK the more rigid track transfers that motion into the train and, ultimately, the riders' teeth?

Seems like a reasonable explaination to me.

By the way, Jim. I don't think you're an idiot. What you say makes sense. It was sarcasm intended to poke fun at this sites members' affinity for assuming everyone who sounds like they think they know what they're talking about is just blowing smoke out their pre-adolescent butts.

Just for clarity, I was never taking issue with his assertion regarding the added support leading to less track "shimmy". Rather, I was trying to comprehend his claim that its better (from a structural integrity standpoint) to transfer vibrational energy to the track/tower, as opposed to the train.

Also, for him to say that energy transferred from one direction to another is impossible is absolutely absurd. If he does have a PE (which, I'm sure, he does not), then God help us all. Stay away from bridges and buildings, else his creations might "shimmy" themselves to the ground.

Jeff do you think your special. "Umm yeah i just got off the phone with Monty and he said they all use the same wheels." Do you want a cookie for telling us you just talked to him. Why should you get to no what CP is building in 07. You dont work for cedar point all you do is run a website. Going to the park in the offseason for pictures. Why doesnt everybody get to go into the part durning the off season? Every coaster enthusiast that sucks kinzel dick gets some sort of inside information that he or she shouldnt no. All you do is run this forum like Mr. Big Shot because you no everything and be a dick to somebody when there wrong about something. So why does that make you more important then everybody on this forum? *** Edited 6/13/2006 8:43:55 PM UTC by RKilbane04*** *** Edited 6/13/2006 9:06:43 PM UTC by RKilbane04***

Oh for God's sake, STFU already.

And, FYI - I don't know anyone who thinks they are "speacil".

I'm not going to justify that with a response, except to say that being vulgar is a sure way to get booted from the site, and I certainly don't have to explain my relationship with the park to anyone. You have NO idea what I do.

I've been away from the board for 8 hours and I miss the biggest Dork Off in internet history...

Damn the Auto Industry...

Did you really have to get rid of my acount I was simply using my freedom of speech. This is America right? Sorry you missed it Coastern3rd.

All I can say is, if CF pays you for any service you may offer, please inform me so that I can sell all of my units when the market opens tomorrow.

Freedom of speech is not guaranteed if you're on somebody else's dime. If this were a public forum, funded with government funds, yes. You are guaranteed freedom of speech. However, this is a site run by private interests using their resources. If POP World and Walt said that "all users must use the word 'weiner' in each of their posts or risk account termination" you're here on their terms so guess what! Too bad for you.

wah wah wah. Bunch of whiners.

I for one welcome RKilbanes account deletion. Less spelling errors to sift through on a daily basis.

I Agree Ben. And I have been scolded by Jeff before. He and Walt keep this place in shape. That's what makes it so nice.

That sounds like a completely logical investment strategy. Well done.

weiner.

How is it that every enjoyable thread to read gets hijacked into an "I hate Jeff, he is an ass" thread? *** Edited 6/14/2006 1:07:40 AM UTC by Fastball84***

Weiner like the hot dog?;)

I would think that TTD=Fast formerly RKilbanes would get the point. If you trash these threads you get warned. If you keep bugging everyone then you have become a liability to have in the forums. If one of the Pointbuzz gods strikes you down then why come back and b**ch about how unfair they are when they gave you fair warnings and gave you chances to straighten up. They shouldn't have to be like babysitters.

Thanks! It's just messing around for me, but I didn't realize I was doing so well.

Good job lettuce. I like that name mmmm... lettuce. Two smileys for you.:):)

Weiner, LOL MD I am still laughing at that one. :) Anyway, this thread went to hell in a handbasket, I bet only Mr. Scott and I know what that means, the rest of you are to young.
