TA2K, B&M, and Other Stuff.

I watched the Discovery Channel special on extreme rides last night, and I was very impressed with the Thrust Air 2000. They were talking about making a version of it that is 350' tall and easily breaks the 100mph "limit". for those of you who are not familiar with this, hop on over to thrillride and check it out.

As appealing as one of these machines sounds, I'm more inclined to go with a B&M for the simple fact that they have proven themselves time and time again with every new ride. We probably won't be seeing another major coaster for a couple of years, but what do you see CP doing in this department? There is also the option of a CCI woodie. So what'll it be; a B&M, a TA2K, a CCI woodie, or something else?

Well, as much as I would like a TA2k or a Floorless or Speed B&M, I think CP needs a good out-n-back airtime woodie like Shivering Timbers. Nuf said.
TA2K looks SWEEEEEEET! But I agree that CP needs a nice airtime woodie. So call up CCI and hook us up CP!

Why Thrust Air, though, when you have sweet Intamin LIM coasters?

CP really needs a large mega-looper...something like Kumba or Manhattan Express (with more loops). A launch coaster like Hulk would be fine too. I think that's where CP needs to focus on their next coaster. The Corkscrew may be an original, but it just doesn't cut it anymore for me compared to what other parks offer. I would be hard-pressed to put it in my top 20 loopers now.
One thing that must be noted on the CCI woodies. Almost all of the great CCI woodies run on two trains which means there are no block breaks to slow down the trains which mean that they generally have great endings. Remember "Cedar Point lives and dies on capacity," so then they would have to run three trains to hit maximum capacity.

Build a racing CCI woodie with 2 trains on each track. If adding a third train means brakes to CCI's woodies forget it. That is not what we want. Ride MF and you will see why.

That's not a big deal. Villain is without a doubt designed for three, it just needs a block after the second turn-around and a new program. A coaster that size for that price (about $5 million) would be nothing.

Remember that just because a coaster has block brakes doesn't mean that they have to be used as trim brakes. Like Jeff said, Villain is designed for three trains, they just don't have the block brake installed. If they do, there is no reason not to run it wide open, just like it does now.
A racing wooden with different tracks (made by CCI of course) would be pretty sweet for the Boardwalk/waterfront. What is that called, a dueling coaster or something? Anyway, that would not only give a huge capacity ride, but it would also give them two coasters at once, correct?

No only one coaster, just as gemini is one.

forgive me for going a bit off topic but i was just wondering if someone could give me info on the city of sandusky..ive seen it from cedar point..ive just never been there...thanks
It really depends on how the ride is laid out.
Millennium Force has three trains and it dosen't have trims.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
Isn't Blue Streak like that, too?
[At least, originally]
Hooper, Gemini also follows the same path on both tracks. I'm talking about a coaster that has 2 DIFFERENT track layouts, such as Dueling Dragons. You still may be right but I just wanted to make sure you understood me. Thanks anyway.
