Teaser Wallpaper on Extra Point!

Thumbs Up!

Cedar Point Junkie.
MF - 20, Magnum - 10, TTD - 3

Sorry, I suppose I should have researched my question a little before I posted. I found here:

http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/rides/coasters/top_thrill_dragster/index.cfm

In the interview with Monty Jasper, that TTD planning began when MF opened, so that's 3 years from first talks and design to opening. Sorry I didn't look into it first.

Well, they did say that it takes a lot of planning for one roller coaster.

It makes you wonder what they're working on now- as this one is getting built.

Thats the real conspiracy. Why haven't they told us what it is yet? Why are they hyping this coaster that we know they have planned for 5 years from now huh? We all know they know what they'll do, so why don't they just tell us instead of keeping it a secret? They tell us in these shows not even endorsed by the parks that they have 5 year plans but they don't tell us what it'll be. Its all a big black ops conspiracy meant to keep secrets from us the "enthusiasts".

Little Leslie said:
If it takes 2-3 years to come up with the plan to build the ride (as I've read in these threads), then shouldn't the media kits be done- or, at least, the ideas?

What do you think the T's were labeling in the latest blog?

Goodbye MrScott

John

Is that sarcasm that I detect, Jugga?

Its no more outrageous than what you've been saying this entire thread.

Goodbye MrScott

John

I'm sorry, Jugga. Everything you say is perfect. I forgot.

So now you've moved on to another thread to bash me in there! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy Hell! This is too funny!!!!

I'm going to tell everyone a secret on here: I don't think about this site when I go to sleep. I think about real-life things.

Where was I bashing you? You complained about someone pointing out a rule (rather harshly both of you) and I said I agreed with the other person. That's not bashing you.

I appreciate what you've brought to the threads, I just disagree with you on this point. There is construction going on and the park has acknowledged it. They aren't sneaking around, they've been up front about it. Just because they didn't announce it when they tore down WWL doesn't mean they are building hype. They are letting the 12 year olds do that for them.

The T's said today that they are planning an announcement, that's not a new story. Anyone with half a brain knows they are planning an announcement. A news story would be them making an announcement (or at least saying when it is).

OK, I came over here to read this thread from another thread and all I see is two people who have differences of opinions and should agree to disagree on this point.

Leslie, I'll agree you've brought some great points and some level headedness (if that's a word) to the forums and we have enough nonsensical posts around that we don't need to fight amongst ourselves.

I'm not sure Jugga was trying to be mean or not but let's all just kiss and hug and go back to harassing members that can't even spell their own name correctly (DISCLAIMER:noone in particular, just an example).

Damn me and my edits.

eat. sleep. ride! - Coaster apparel and accessories!

Ride on, MrScott!

Jugga's my sweetie, but I just feel like he jumped on the bandwagon with Halltd. I didn't deserve that crap.

There's no bandwagons here. I like to think there's a group that can all think for themselves amongst us.

He just saw it his way in this situation. He's disagreed with something i've said before when I believed that I was absolutely right. It all comes down to one own's opinion. Not who's right or wrong.

Ride on, MrScott!

It is very true that each ride conception begins many years before the ride is actually built. Most likely Top Thrill Dragster, Wicked Twister, and Millennium Force were all rides talked about in the same meeting. I am not an expert on this or even close to an expert. I do know that when Millennium Force was built Top Thrill Dragster was being designed. I would say the new ride, whatever it is, has been in full swing for years. A project like that takes forever. You have to find a placement for the ride, then survey it all, draw the elevations of the ride, and then start fabrication. Then you have to think of safety safety safety. I would hate to have that career. Waiting that long to see your work being accomplished would be frustrating.

Also the anticipation that Cedar Point is creating by teasing this ride is a marketing scheme. It is getting people interested in the ride and the park. Is that not the purpose of marketing your product? Getting people interested?

Yes it is, Adam. That's the first thing they teach in Marketing class. And, strangely enough, I did a presentation on Cedar Point in my Management class...which was right after my marketing class. This is Cedar Fair's thing. They know what they're doing.

It wasn't even about one being right and the other being wrong. I just think that a couple of people weren't happy about a couple of other people agreeing with me, that's all. It's not my fault that I typed my opinion and others agreed. :-D

Ignore them Leslie. They have lots of posts and have been here a long time so they think it somehow makes them smarter than everyone else and they enjoy trying to prove it by going against "newer dumber" members no matter what they say. Its what established members do, they think it makes them cool, or something. They can't handle people having fun with the lead up to a new ride, so they refuse them their opinions.

Anti Established Members

Little Leslie...

Going back to a real discussion here..

You mentioned that the marketing materials should be ready...

You are correct...mostly...Cedar Fair has chosen different marketing plans for almost every ride they've built recently...it is possible that they may only have preliminary marketing designs before construction...they may choose to finalize everything right up to a few weeks before the media announcement...

although, they didn't need to market much of anything in the case of: MF, TTD, and now most certainly Maverick, besides announcing stats, layout, etc..

If the ride isn't named Maverick, how credible will your statement be? Honestly it is highly possible that it will be named Maverick, but how can you be so bold to show you know that will be the rides name. I am not being an ass here, just trying to figure out why all of you know what it will be named. The name could change at the last moment. We all remember Banshee/Mantis. Don't we?

Banshee was changed only because of what it's meaning really was, and that was after it was announced if I remember correctly...

And none of us are saying that it is in fact Maverick...if you tried reading a little more you'd see that we aren't 100 percent sure...we're simply using the name as reference instead of saying something like this:

that red and tan thing in the construction zone in frontier town next to mean streak

Owner, Gould Photography.

Oh I know you aren't 100 percent sure except in this statement on this page:

although, they didn't need to market much of anything in the case of: MF, TTD, and now most certainly Maverick, besides announcing stats, layout, etc..

Looks pretty sure you think its gonna be Maverick.

By the way I know all about the history of Mantis, or any other ride that is at Cedar Point. If you dont believe me you have full rights to test me on it!

Marketing was key to Top Thrill Dragster. Cedar Point had the attention of anyone who cared for almost a year. And then made the announcement. People were on the edge waiting to see what it would be. The ride doesn't work all the time. I know it doesn't. When it works, it is the greatest ride on earth. Hopefully the anticipation for this new ride won't end up being negative. Everyone is wanting something huge and it might not be huge. In my opinion a project started this early has some sort of secret agenda. It could be tall or it could be a new thing, but no one will ever know until Cedar Fair makes it public knowlegde.
