Time to replace Snoopy?

I think the style that Blue Sky has developed for the new Peanuts movie is very cool:

Hopefully this helps raise awareness for the characters and spur interest in the parks with cross-promotion.

I agree... I love how the trailer maintains the "classic Peanuts" feel while incorporating modern animation. I think this movie could do big things for the park in the kids/family department, and wouldn't be surprised to see even more enhancements in those areas to capitalize on that interest.

Ehhh...not really feeling it, but to each their own.

I know I'm resurrecting a discussion from 2012 but I suggested Nintendo as a replacement / addition to the Peanuts gang. Looks like Universal sees the potential in the Nintendo IP for theme park use and has snatched up the rights. Cedar Fair's loss but at least we know it'll be in good hands with Universal. I think this is their answer to the Star Wars land Disney has up their sleeves. I'm excited

With 'The Peanuts Movie' being released this November, it should result in an increase in popularity in Snoopy and his friends...

Don't you think that if Universal is going to enter a license agreement with Nintendo that it's going to have an exclusivity clause? Besides, that's an awful set of IP to logo your parks with.

Yep, hence I said Cedar Fair's loss, as in it's no longer an option

We have a 9 year old in the house who absolutely loves Snoopy and Peanuts. She was ecstatic when we brought her to Kings Island with all the Snoopy/Peanuts around the kids area.

I've seen this argument around the block many times, but Peanuts and Snoopy are classics, and if anything, it's making a comeback with kids these days.

I say keep the Beagle. My 12 and 14 yr-olds agree.

When we were waiting in line for Millennium Force I noticed that they were playing a trailer for this movie on the monitors in the que.

^Honestly, that's exactly what they should be doing. Synergy, maybe even work with Blue Sky to create a new 4D show or something.

So after building up anticipation all summer watching the trailer on FUN TV I finally got to see the Peanuts movie and it was everything I was hoping for. They did it right and stayed true to what a Peanuts feature has always been, no updating/changing characters to appeal to a different era or any of that nonsense. All that's missing are the Dolly Madison commercials.

Not to mention, the theater was packed when I went to see the Peanuts Movie - all the kids were laughing along with the jokes, and all the parents remembered the storylines from their youth.

I think Snoopy has some longevity.

Absolutely agree.

Anecdotally, our 3 year old daughter has taken a liking to The Peanuts since her first visit to CP last year. And there was much Peanuts anticipation for this year's visits. Now, not only is she excited to see the movie, we watched It's the Great Pumpkin probably a half dozen times in October. So yeah, I'd say the IP has been a wise investment for the park.

When our boys were little they called Geauga Lake Snoopy Park.

Seeing how many kids, tweens and teens still enjoy having photos taken with Snoopy I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. It's a very family friendly IP that has had a lot of staying power over generations.

I believe Universal made a deal with Nintendo so that is off the table now anyway. Meanwhile I heard the late Charles Schultz was 3rd on the earnings list of the deceased. He was right behind Michael Jackson and Elvis. Not bad for a cartoonist.
