Toledo Mayor Candidate promises amusement park

I know this doesn't directly affect cp, but it would if the lady where elected. Anyways, did anyone hear that Independent Toledo Major Candidate Opal Covey is running with her main push for election being that she promises a huge amusement park in the Toledo area. She claimed a park would nullify Toledo's job problems and keep people who live in the city here but also attract those from around the country. It won't happen as the polls have her at less then 1% of the vote. But still very interesting plan to run on, especially given the fact that the best amusement park is less then 55 miles away.

And did you hear she said that if people didn't vote for her, God would punish Toledo the way He did New Orleans? What a freak show.

The only park I see coming to Toledo would be "Factoryland," where the most thrilling ride is when you're shot out of a smoke-stack.

Yeah Jeff, I didn't want to say anything bad about the lady but I found her self-confidence amazing. Proclaiming herself to be the "chosen one from God" and that she would without a doubt win the election. She also said that her amusement park idea came in a vision from God Himself. I am surprised channel 13 seriously put that on tv.

She's tried running for mayor before. I think last time she literally got 4 votes. She used to own a pet store until the city came in and seized all her animals due to animal cruelty charges. You can see her driving around town in a beat up station wagon with a large, home-made "Opal for mayor" sign tied to the roof. Reguardless, I don't think CP needs to be too concerned about this one....

Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only on on here who has seen her around. That station wagon is hilarious too. Huge cardboard sign with "Opal for Mayor" written in black marker up on the roof. She used to shop where I worked a few years ago, and wow she has a lot of problems upstairs. She is the laughing stock of Toledo. When asked what her plans for Toledo were if she becomes mayor she said " I don’t really know right now, but I’m sure I’ll have more visions to tell me what to do before I become mayor.”

Opal has brun before and been going after the city for years ever since they shut her down.. She's a nutjob

I've met her a few times at events that she showed up to to try and grandstand her political agenda at and usually ends up being escorted off by local members of the law enforcement community.

Surprised? All the major networks put some guy who has made similar claims on all the time! If only I could remember his name... hmmm... ;)

Did this lady actually say what she had planned? Anything about where the park would be located or how big it would be? I am trying to think of a place in Toledo where a major amusement park would be located and I can't. Demolish Northtown Mall? Though from what you guys say the lady seems insane, wonder what her plans call for.
