TTD Closed Again??

If it is raining so hard that the camera is water logged, then no, it is not running.

I have been looking at the cams periodiclly throught the day and each time I looked it wasn't open.

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!

I was next to get on when it broke down, and at first they said it would be short, so we waited. after 1 1/2 hour wait on platform and 3 hour total wait we left. I asked for fron onf the line pass and the lady got snobby with me and said no. I was a little upset that a supposedly short breakdown turned into over an hour breakdown. They have to have some idea of how long the breakdown will be. O well

Is it me or am I seeing the sixth train in the staging area on cam 1 right now?

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

I believe you are seeing things (I don't see a 6th train). Does anyone know why TTD is down? If not so, we'll just have to wait for people to come back from the park today.....
It does appear to be a train, but I think that's just the white section of track (looking like the head of the train) and the red section (looking like the seats). Even if they fix whatever the problem is tonight, they probably won't run it today. Hopefully tomorrow!

I think it is to, but I guess we'll just have to wait till tomorrow OR untill that #@*% glare in the 2nd web cam is gone.

Silver means management, because they wear silver name badges. In your case, security had no right to do that and was changing park op policy on the spot.

29th? please? ill go crazy? (sniffles)
Here's the deal with the Freeway Stamp. Entrance is arguably the most stressful position for Top Thrill Dragster. The ride ops are checking for so many things (height, glasses, loose articles, etc.) that it makes it next to impossible to do it effeciently. The best way to work that position is to have people enter in a single file line; not from every which way.

Now imagine if they had let you in immediately, and some random guest saw you "cutting" in line and decides to try to do it themselves without a freeway stamp (or worse yet somebody along the fence chooses to make a big issue about it). Now the ride op has to explain the situation to the people who are causing the issue and that just backsup the entrance even more; adding to the confusion, and permitting more people the opportunity to cut in line while the ride op is distracted dealing with the upset guests.

So, to make life easier for everyone involved, just wait in the line along the fence until you get to the entrance. At that point you will be allowed up the freeway lane. Don't worry about the extra wait. You still are "cutting" infront of all those people who you were behind because you have a straight shot to the ramp while they have to zig zag through the queue.

Is that 5 to 10 minutes really that critical? You still are getting a shorter wait time. And that is the true purpose of freeway, to shorten your wait time, not to ensure you are the first person on the ride when it opens back up.

The moral of the story: Next time you're at the entrance of Top Thrill Dragster, give the ride op there a hug...they more than likely need it. (Of course ask first) :) *** Edited 6/29/2004 1:32:33 AM UTC by Purdue University Engineer***

On the 27th it opened at about 1:45 and then closed down for good at about 4:30, they put the trains on the transfer tracks at about 5:30, and ever since then I think its been broken down. Luckily I got to ride it twice in the period that it was open.
Just and update, it looks like they are loading the trains onto the track. It appears that there is not a sixth train but it's kind of hard to see.
Do we have to have a Dragster's up/down thread every week? If it was a huge issue, then CP would keep the status of TTD on their site like they did last year. It's up most of the time, let's leave it at that. I can see posting if it was major, but people continually start new topics about such and such ride was closed for x amount of hours, what's the deal?

(Gets off soap box)

A freind of mine mentioned that the Sandusky Register had a little paragraph the other day stating the hours TTD was down the previous day. Unbelievable, I can't believe that rag has nothing more newsworthy to put in the paper.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

*dark intro music*

the trains are on today but I have'nt seen ANY movement. No employees, lines, etc. Is this the 3rd day now..from what was supposed to be a small mechanical issue? Oh great:)

In light of the Dragster issues (although better this year) and with the pending seat belt issue, I think we all should really start hoping for a B&M coaster. Hopefully all these intamin problems will inspire CP to change it up a bit and give us a new b&m..atleast that's my take:-D

Just please god let them have that thing fixed by tomorrow :-)

Purdue University Engineer:

I understand what you are saying, but if you had have seen the line that was waiting to get in the queues, you would understand. They were farther back then I could see, and if I would have had to wait in the whole line, it would have been a little more than "5-10 minutes", and if I had not seen my friend in line, I wouldn't had even bothered.

Even if the wait time to get in the queue was only an hour (which I'm sure it wasn't) the purpose of the free-way system would have been totally lost considering I spent an hour in the Free-way line to get the stamp.

Also, with the amount of people that they actually let in the queue line, I would not have passed all of the people that "zig-zag" through the queues because there are not enough people to fill a whole "zig-zag". (How many times have you heard on this site "after I entered the queues, I only waited 10 minutes"). -- My point exactly.

So I surely hope that they have fixed the problem, which it sounds like they have.

Oh and BTW, currentlydowntofillintheblank, the time on my hand was indeed the time that I tried to enter the queue's.

It would have been at least a two hour wait outside the queue. If it was 5-10 minutes, then of course I wouldn't have jumped in line. The only reason that I did is because I had my stamp and they refused to let me use it, my stamp was from 3-4, and it was only open from 3-4:30. If I would have gotten in the back of the line at 3:10 when I entered, I would have wasted another hour and a half of my time standing in line, and no ride. I waited an hour and a half that morning.

I do in fact know the purpose of freeway, you did not have to explain it to me. The line was backed up almost to the ENTRANCE OF THE PARK. I am there faithfully every Sunday, I have had many FW stamps. It's not like I am a first timer.

Moral of the story: I am not going to give a stranger a hug, especially when they don't follow the park's rules. And it wasn't the ride op, it was the guard. I see that you didn't throughly read my post or you would know this already.

And Topthrill420, I asked because I had a stamp once from 6-7. It was down at 6 due to wind, so I waited in the tester seat. I was still there at 7:05 when they opened it, and I couldn't use it. That I understood. I was even BSing with the employees the whole hour. I didn't care, I understand their rules, and boy is that tester seat cozy! At least I wasn't standing for that entire hour! I was just wondering if your situation was the same. ;)

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!

Yeah....that's exactly what I just said. But, thanks for backing me up anyway. :)
I just had to reply because I just love repeating myself. Funny how someone can bash you when they didn't remember what you posted and who posted what!

Wait....was he talking to you, me, or both of us? :)

It's 4:45, and I just saw a rollback on the Cedar Point cam, so at least they're trying to run it. Maybe that new launch system is giving them trouble and they wanted to take a whole day to fix it, who knows?
What are you talking about? New launch system? It's been a lot longer than a whole day.

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!
