Update: 6/2

I find it very hard to believe that the new coaster has ANYTHING to do with the movie called "Top Gun". Besides western-theming ("Maverick", "Hold on to your spurs", "Back up Bronco!" "...storms a-brewin" - Frontier Town etc.) doesn´t quite fit with a plane ;)

But those trains does have some serious "sidewindin´" to them. And if the "2 and 2 together" was ever a hint, those trains are the best bet.

I heard that the announcement of "Project 2007" will be in the June 15 timeframe and may be delayed a few days to make the official announcement at Coastercon in Florida. I also heard that the first hill will be 560 feet and that the ride will be over Lake Erie. I have a feeling that the old White Water Landing station may be the new station for the new ride to keep in sync with the Frontiertown theming.

^ Wow! Then it must be right! Since you "heard" it! I´m a believer!!

WELCOME to POINTBUZZ!! Thanks for the info!!!

I've figured this ride out. First they knew they were going to buy Paramount Parks so they trademarked the name Maverick after Tom Cruise's character in Top Gun. Now they are going to theme a new Intamin launch coaster that has trains like F-14s. Why didn't we think of this earlier.

I'm just kidding about this. I was at the site yesterday and there is still a ton of rebar left, so there is probably many more footers on the way.

Well this is just a thought, and it may or may not have already been mentioned, as I read these posts daily but may have missed something in the 100's of pages of Project 2007 posts, but it seems to me that the site footprint is very small (compared to other recent coasters, so it may be that they are trying to finish as much in the old WWL area as possible and then begin sconstruction elsewhere the day the park closes in October, and the WWL site will be ready for track, so they can put all of their off-seson construction efforts elsewhere... perhaps going over the frontier trail or something, as they would not want to closedown the trail or try building over/oround it while the park is open....

Of course it s is also paooible that the ride will somehow fill in the large empty space in the middle of the current construction site, and it is just empty now so the bulldozers and diggers can move about... We will find out late august... (probally august 31st at 11:59:59PM :) )

I think it's going to be a new coaster with red track.

What if this coaster was a double station that crosses into one track till have way through and then it breaks in to two tracks. And the track is just starting to come it can keep coming till sugust. Look at this http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?a=462 this could be filled with track and supports and thats a lot of it too.

Bring back Boblo!

I believe that the Port Aventura trains would fit. If they're using the WWL station, with it's extra space, the trains would be able to fit with some alteration to the station. just go with the first drawing, and add one more seat, plus, remove the wings, cushion the backing for comfort with high speed. *** Edited 6/4/2006 3:43:15 PM UTC by grizzeg***

I could be dead wrong, and I'm not saying that I believe this for sure, but I still think it's highly possible that this coaster could cover a lot more ground than what anyone thinks. That would explain the early start. Get what they can done during the season and then after the park closes, there could be a lot more changes coming to Frontiertown. Things being removed, land being cleared. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't rule that out.

^Yeah, don't say that too loud, though. The kiddies around here might yell at ya. ;)

I still don't think it will be these new trains at all, either.

Fireworks show... best for last. Infact, it could have two best lasts.

I must double post to say that it being built so early to get people to hype it up, and obviously it's working becasue there are about 20 topics on this site alone about the same exact thing...

(There´s always the edit button ;) )

What do you mean? That CP started building this early for more hype? So do you think it will be done, and ready to run by december? :)

It could be done by Autumn... Atleast maybe by Closing day, which means two things... it'll have tons of themeing, or it'll need a crap load of testing.

I wouldn´t count on it ;)

Sigh! Come on August!

They still have 5 months that the park is open, then 6 months after that...

11 months total... so they started a year sooner then they needed to if it didn't need some special attention...

I just have to ask this obvious question. If they started construction so early just to hype it up, why on earth would they announce it in August? Hmm, maybe because their construction schedule is NOT being used as a direct marketing tool. Sure there is some benefit with them started construction early, but that's not why they started so early.

When they announce the ride in August, they will also most likely announce the closing of Antique Cars and/or other rides in the immediate area during Bonus weekends and HalloWeekends due to the need to start construction outside of the current site being developed. This is how they went about it in 1999 with MF and the train so it's very likely that they would have no qualms doing it again.

^ That sounds reasonable.
