Update: August 17

Hi all,

Regarding Walt's post for new people, I just wanted to say that I really hope newbies can heed the read more, post less rule. In fact, perhaps "read more, post less" would make for a great Pointbuzz t-shirt. I've been lurking here on a daily basis for many months and it's great to find out what coaster enthusiasts like djDaemon, DBCP, JuggaLotus etc. have to say about each new Project 2007 development. Unfortunately, it seems like less and less of the informed individuals that were here in May/June are still coming around these days. I fear that it's largely due to the new people who refuse to spend ~ 30 minutes to skim through old threads and find out what's been discussed earlier. You can bet that any idea you have has likely been brought up and was subsequently debunked weeks ago. Basically, I'd just like to say cheers to those regulars who have kept me well informed and my speculations grounded (certainly below 500ft ;) ) regarding the new coaster. I only hope you can continue to endure the repetitive crap and stick around. Thanks!

We're dealing with it. Thanks Turtletrousers.

I don't know crap, but I try!

Turtletrousers,

I agree with you, i've read a lot through out here. I've joined PointBuzz and I bought the Tshirt!

I agree, some things that get said on here are far out, make no sense, and i (not knowing much about coasters) scratch my head and go.. "what are they thinking?"

I just look at this place to ask questions and learn about what we all enjoy.. Cedar Point.

if you dont want to deal with my or anyones elses "stupid" questions, then don't, you don't have to respond.

does it cost you to have people post, what you may think, is a stupid question? I would guess not. I do appreciate the information I get from those that have it, and deliver it to us "newbies" so one day we can graduate out of this class!

lol

have a good one!

Greg

I dont think its really about the questions so much as the people starting stupid threads just to point out a new piece of track or some rumor they heard/made up. Or when you start a thread that could easily fit into an existing thread. Or.... well basically, most people's beefs are with threads that don't need to be created. It clutters up the forum and only leads to sarcasm and flaming, and an eventual lock.

GregTSmith, the post was certainly not directed at you. Perhaps I didn't communicate eloquently enough, but I was referring to the people who just arrive and start stubbornly proclaiming 500ft or that it will go underground, or into the lake, when those things have been previously discussed at length. Actually, I never thought asking curious questions was a bad thing at all. Another example is the fact that people keep posting new threads when the general sentiment about doing so would be obvious if a little reading was done first.

There's a difference between people who read and think about their posts before making them (eg. you) and those who just start off with "I heard from the waitress at TGI Fridays that it was going to be a coaster called a wingwalker that they have in Spain and it's going to be the longest ever......" These posts don't bother me directly, but they seem to annoy the people whose opinions I enjoy reading.

My apologies for offending anyone.

Two-this coaster isn't going to be more than 40 feet off the ground so it better do something else interesting.

I think todays track pretty much tells us it will be more than 40 feet off the ground. I could do some simple geometry to calculate angles etc, but the piece pointing up to the sky, is pretty much 25 feet off the ground just by itself.

I am thinking that hill will be a modest 200ft. Who knows how many others there will be.

Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point

Considering that the "top" of the hill was sitting on the ground right next to it looking like it was going to be set up next, I'd say your 'modest 200 feet' just got chopped down to a 25 foot bunny hill. :)

Yeah, I saw that... and people really thought that was the piece that was going to be a tophat...

^^I think its a bit more than 25ft.:)

hmm but didnt we determine this ride will be looping through itself?? Or at least that was a theory at one point. If that is still true then I am pretty sure they will do those sections first since it will be a P.I.T.A to get a crane in between pieces of the structure..

I really think all the people saying "Well, this is as high as its gonna get" are completely off base.

I never said this was as high as it was going to get, but it's not going to be as big as everyone thinks, or hopes.

Everyone?;)

I was just there last night. That's how I know that the bunny hill looks different than it does in pictures.

^Nah, I'm just trying to decide who I can drag with me on a weekend. And I wanted to see who'd be there from here so we could hang for a bit!
