Valravn Goes Vertical--Construction Starts

We had a report on WYTV (one of our Youngstown TV stations) this morning that indicated that the coaster was approximately half-way completed at this point.

No trees were harmed in the sending of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

The construction blog states that the foundations are being set for the new souvenir and on ride photo building. Do we know yet where this will be? It also says the framework for the station is beginning =)

I think they said it's going to be under the station like banshee

I don't think that will be the case. Its a floorless coaster so under the station needs to be space for maintenance crew to check the removable floor.

The Crystal Method is the only way to find The Winner!

I'm pretty sure it's going in between Valravn and Blue Streak. If you look at the webcam, you can see a foundation for a building starting to go up.

It would be a great idea to place Skyscraper next to Valravyn, lines will be obnoxiously long and it will give people an upcharge distraction while waiting.

Also, it will seem to be a 'new' ride to a good percentage of People that never use the resort entrance.

In addition, It will add even more life to the blue streak midway.

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

If they put it next to Valravn, put it on the Celebration side, between the dive loop and road.

I also thought about them placing skyscraper there too

That Immelmann is HUGE

I'very never ridden a dive coaster before, but the drop and Immelmann look great. Can'the wait to see it at the Winter Chill-Out!

Thought I'd leave this here; this is just my guess on the construction schedule of Valravn (don't quote me on this):

  • Week of January 25: Work on ascent to MCBR
  • Week of February 1: Work on MCBR, start second dive
  • Week of February 8: Continue work on second dive, start dive loop
  • Week of February 15: Continue work on dive loop, start roll
  • Week of February 22: Continue work on roll and turnaround
  • Week of February 29: Airtime hill
  • Week of March 7: Track complete
  • April: Trains arrive, testing begins
  • May: Opening

the construction blog already states the trains would arrive in 1-2 weeks

They will probably debut them at the Winter Chill Out like they did last year with Rougarou.

1999: First visit
Halloweekends- Harvest Fear, Tombstone Terror-Tory
Ride Operations- Professor Delbert’s Frontier Fling

Yay!! More pictures on the trains possibly!

More digging going on in the area between the road and dive loop this morning.

I am, by no means, saying that I dislike the construction update pictures, but I think it could be neat to make the unplaced segments invisible. That way, on the Animated gif, it would be really easy to see the new additions "appear" as it's built.

I'm not saying you have to go out and do this, but I just thought it'd be another cool way to visualize the progress. Nice work with the updates though davidw, I always look forward to the next picture of the progress!

I thought about that too, but after i was halfway through what i have completed, so i didn't want to spend the time going through them again. i'll likely do something like that for whatever coaster is built next.
