Water Bottles

I don’t know if it is true, or if they where just using an excuse because the people were standing at the gate blocking everything until they got an exact reasoning, but they told them that the reason the water/pop bottle policy is being enforced was because someone brought alcohol in with a bottle and some underage kids got a hold of it. Again, I don’t know how true it was, because the employees were really having a problem with people arguing and blocking the gates, and this reasoning was enough to get them to move out of the way to finish their drinks.
They should really look at the health issue of this policy. I can understand why they would not want food or soft drinks into the park so they can make money, but water is a human necessity and should not be denied. Trying to make money is one thing but putting guest in potential danger is wrong.

Most of the people I go with have no idea you can get free water from stand. Even that free water is just a little cup and wont do anything against heat exhaustion in 90 degree weather. I have also heard a quote from several people they would rather "pass out" than pay $3 for a bottle of water. That leaves a handful a drinking fountains which unless you carry one around it may not be sufficient on a hot day.

Here is a question, if someone pass's out and dies of heat exhaustion (happened last year) and was denied to bring a bottle of water into the park, would they have a case?

CP's prices on pop really sucks if you compare them to Holiday World. Seriously though, after being at Holiday World (which I realize is in a league of its own) earlier in the year the prices at CP make me ill, not want to eat.

Just ask for two or three waters. They will give it to you with no problem.

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

I was at the park on the 15th and 16th and both days we took in a small cooler with bottled water, drinks and lunch for the kids with no problems. I wasn't even aware they had a policy against this. I was surprised at the lack of security at the Breakers entrance. Maybe I'm just used to the metal detectors and bag searches at Kennywood.

I also had no problem getting ice water at the refreshment stands. They will even give you 3 or 4 at a time if you ask. If you drink one or two of these every hour, you will be fine. There are also many places you can go to get out of the heat for a while. Town hall, gift shops, Snoopy on ice,...

And there are plenty of water fountains in the park. There are some outside every restroom plus in other locations too. With that and free water at the consession stands, the only issue is the cost for bottle water.
I do usually get two cups at a time, but why such a little cup? The cup with the Pepsi ads all over them can't cost them a thing.

I'm not sure how many people know or care they can ask for free water. Sometimes when I go with a newbie they are stunned and amazed I can get cups of ice water for them. They think I am special or something :) Where people need it the most though is in line where the only alternitive is the now $2.50 bottle.

I don't even take bottles with me in the park becuase they are a pain to take on rides, some which you are not allowed to take any on in the first place. For some families who have at least person one watching a kid they could hold water bottles for the group. My family used to do that and get them filled up at the stands for free with nice cool water. Was a great way to battle the heat.

Finally got to see the sign at the entrance gate this morning. Turns out the no outside food, water, and beverage rule is "for your safety and convenience."

Yes, I find myself feeling so much safer knowing that someone wasn't allowed to bring in their water. And it is so much more convenient to have to walk out to my car to get my food or bend over and pay the money CP charges for food in the park. Why don't they just at least be honest and say, "Because we are attempting to milk you for every last cent you have..." For your safety and convenience - pulllleeeaazzze! :)

I'm not buying the safety thing because if it was a safety thing, then nothing would be allowed in the park. No bookbags, no fanny packs, etc. They've just taken it a little to far with this one for reasons that make no sense whatsoever.

Now that you put it that way, I agree. Seriously, you might as well cut all carry-in stuff, because the potential for "safety" issues sure is greater with nearly everything other than water.

The Lemon Chill at Cedar Point has special ingreedients that are safer than ingreedients of Lemon Chill at other locations.

I've never been stopped at any park about food or water. My family has even gotton our backpacks checked, and they were filled with snacks and water bottles, and no one said anything.

Today I was going to bring an ice water in line for Gemini, but the entrance employee told me I couldn't enter with it.

Now I understand I can't take it on the ride, but the line? I mean, there are trash cans in the queue for a reason.

I just thought that was weird.

Good thing there aren't any vending machines in the Gemini queue. :)

I think the reason for that is because Gemini is almost always a walk on. With such a short line, there really is no point in taking something in the line because there is no line. I would also guess that they don't want someone with a full cup of pop standing around in the station trying to finish it before the ride.

Just because you can't justify charging $3 for a Pepsi doesn't mean you can't charge $3 for a Pepsi.
