Water Main Break

I don't even think a lawsuit like this would make it to court. There have been no damages or injuries as a result of this. They refunded hotel guests and allowed tickets to be used another day this season. Worst case, someone is out $100 in gas. That doesn't even justify going to small claims court.

In an effort to lighten the debate here on something that the park had no control over, but can do what they please within the guidelines of the laws and this idiotic feeling of entitlement everyone has now........

If someone see's the Griswald's station wagon heading into the park, someone, please be kind and tell them not to bother.

I would, but I stayed away after getting home shortly before 2am this morning after a GREAT COASTERMANIA yesterday!

I showed this to my husband, he was joking that we should drive to the park and sit in the middle of the parking lot with our "family truckster" just so it would look funny on the webcam. I like Snoopy too much to punch him, though.

Well, the webcam is facing the marina to hide their shame, so...

Yeah, and my woody panels aren't going to show up on Dragster cam...

What shame? Something happened that was out of their control, and in the name of safety they decided to close the park till the situation was fixed? What's with all the negativity?

It wasn't an issue of the park making the decision. They had no choice. The health department and fire department don't let people gather where there is no water. The city infrastructure failed. There was only one possible outcome.

It has been updated. All on site resorts are closed for the next 2 days. No word on the park tomorrow but it looks bleak.

Leave the hypercoaster alone

This is has gone from a very exciting day to a very sad day. I was supposed to participate in my first Coasting For Kids tomorrow, and stay at Breakers tonite and tomorrow night. I was actually quite lucky to catch the news before making the 3-hour drive. Now I'm just sitting at home with my finger up my nose.

I would be really surprised if they can't get the park opened tomorrow. This does mean that I'm not sure where we're sleeping the next two nights.

I had a heck of a time finding a hotel a month ago. The hotels are already packed because of bike week, and this just makes it worse. Good luck to those who no longer have a hotel, what a mess.

Do we even know how the main broke?

Any estimates on the amount of money they're losing?

Probably anywhere between 200,000 to 500,000. It's gotta be at least 7 figures.

Plenty of rooms in Vermilion and points east. That's where I'm staying.

Per a friend that lives there, it sounds like they are now evacuating Cedars. I would assume this is because of the risk of fire, and not having water access.

The break appears to be right at the parking lot edge. Lots of water, lots of trucks. The bigger question I have is for guests arriving tonight at the hotels. They're automatically refunding hotel guests for any stay last night or tonight.

They are refunding for a stay last night?

Has anyone ever remembered them closing the park for a day? Wow! Gotta do whatcha gotta do, I am a platinum member but I do feel bad for those who I saw coming in last night with campers and such, but you know Cedar Point will make it right.

That would suck but really what can you do? Need water!!

I just don't remember this ever happening before, other then closing early due to weather.

Weird seeing the live web cams and NO ONE in the park!! Too bad too what a beautiful day to be there!!!

So, I go to the channel 5 out of Cleveland to get the latest on the break and they have "warning, graphic pictures of the water main break at Cedar Point".

So I am thinking how graphic can pictures be of a water main break? Seriously....

Hoping park opens tomorrow, I'm staying in the local area anticipating it, if not I'll be a bit disappointed however, this isn't their fault and is completely out of their control.

Other than that they handled this quite well, and I know they're working on all of this right now quite hard.

Just wish I would know if I should cancel tonight's reservation and get my money back for one night or stick it out and enjoy the park tomorrow, which is where I'm quite hopeful
