Weather Watch?
I just heard on the news that there is a tornado warning out for sandusky county and others around it and I was just wondering what kind of weather will Millennium Force be able to go through with the winds and stuff from the lake.

I doubt they can go through a tornado. and there was no tornado warning for sandusky county. One thing i am is a skywarn spotter (like to chase those things) You probably heard it from the radio they don't know weather worth a crap.

The weather down here in Portsmouth was rather wild! But of course I was on my porch watching it all! Nothin' like watching rotation in the sky.
It is finished! If it can't then I will not ride it! LOL!

MF will be very resistant to wind...just look at the structure. Most importantly, look at the surface area that MF presents to the wind...hardly anything....a tornado could blow right by and the only thing that would be damaged would be the queue area, or anything that was hit by flying debris..you know like stones from the breakers.....I wouldn't ever worry about MF...more like worry about yourself -- you are much less sturdy. :)
The chances of a tornado actually making it onto the Cedar Point peninsula are slim, though. Most twisters die out rather quickly when they reach water and that's just what one would have to cross in order to reach CP.

Well actually tornados dieing out when they come over water is an old wives tale. Yes they do but the reason is not water. The reason is they are generally weak tornados on the old Fujita scale. As for damamge to coasters. Well they would be probably stay intacted seeing as most of the tornadoes on ohio are usually between F0-F1 on the fujita scale, with a few F2's. However if a F4-F6 came along well those caosters may be scrap metal. Wonder if CP has tornado insurance?? ;) and yeah jeff that was some disappointing weather last night. When the sun goes down you lose all your heating and the storms fizzle out.

An F6 tornado is theoretical - it has never been known to occur. F4 and F5 tornadoes are rare everywhere. Only 2% of all tornadoes in the U.S. reach this level.
Yesterday's stormy weather was not the result of warm weather or the heat of the day. It was the result of the large difference between the temperature at the surface and the temperature aloft. Also, tornadoes can and do cross bodies of water.
I know I'm not a working weatherman, but my degree in meteorology does come in handy sometimes! I still get a kick out of watching one of my former professors, Dr. Greg Forbes, on the Weather Channel.
